Clark is the ghost boyfriend that was ever present. Dane was the hot cheating jerk who Gabby basically wanted to jump into bed with right away, and almost did. Well, she did wait unit the second date. I kept wondering if they were using protection. It wasn't mentioned. Considering the dog he turned out to be, let's hope they were. You feel bad for the woman who ends up with Dane because you know he will aways cheat. I didn't enjoy the storyline when it involved Dane. I liked Brad. I know several other reviews thought he was a nerd and wimpy, but I really liked him. He is good guy. He is described as good looking too. His superhero references were fun because they were kind of tongue and cheek. When Gabby pulled that stunt of backing away from him because she was afraid of losing him, I knew she needed serious help then. Here is a guy that you can tell is totally in love with her and then she basically breaks up with him because she cannot get her head out of her past. Again, looking at my Kindle going, What? She is crying and falling apart wanting Fran to baby her. I am, again looking at my Kindle, saying you caused this unnecessary mess yourself. Why are you crying and falling apart? Gabby was so obsessed with Clark that she could not see that Brad has a lot of the same characters qualities that she loved in Clark. Fran was a good friend to Gabby, but she has sex on the brain too. The problem with Fran was she has a serious guy but keeps commenting on every hot guy. Give it a rest. You keeping hoping Fran will slap weepy Gabby and tell her to move on and have a life. Gabby's family was a waste of words. Liked Matt, he is a good brother.
I agreed with other reviews. If you take the sex out of this book it could have been written for young teens. One reviewer could not believe someone gave a one star review, I could. I have a difficult time believing so many readers gave this book five stars. To each her own. This book had potential, but took a juvenile turn. Since I am the owner of Beth Michele other Amazon books, I have high hopes I will enjoy them more.
God, what a boring, unreal, one-dimensional and shallow story!!
The writing is overly simplistic, the characters are one directional, all things are told instead of shown and the plot line is exhausting in its predictability.
I know we read romance for the predictability of a happy ending but this is ridiculous!!
And the smut parts are cringy at best!! You’ll be wanting to fly through those, they’re so... hilarious.
I was disappointed in both the story and the characters.
Seriously, there’s not one redeeming quality to this book.
I am giving this book a solid 4.5 stars. The writing, the character development, the captivating story line are just the tip of the ice berg for this book.
Gabby is in love. She has found her soul mate. Clark, has to be the most romantic awesome boyfriend ever. He attentive and amazing. He is Gabby's high school and college sweetheart. These two are off the charts hott, even after so many years together. The steam and intensity is still alive in every kiss. The night of her college graduation is the last time she sees Clark.
Three years later, Gabby finds herself living in New York city. Gabby doesn't date while in New York she basically finds her next "encounter" and moves on quickly before she is asked to give a piece of herself. She bumps (literally) into what can only be described as the most amazing, attractive and incredibly hott alpha male known to mankind, Dane!! He sweats sex. He is sex on a stick. Gabby and Dane have an immediate attraction that leads to "encounters". While she is seeing Dane, she meets Brad, the coffee shop owner, Gabby frequents. Brad quickly becomes an important piece of Gabby's life. Brad is an amazing man. He is patient, caring, loving, sweet, romantic and wants nothing but the best for Gabby. Gabby realizes that Brad is the first man since Clark to make her want more. Brad makes her want to give her heart again, but she fears being hurt and the loss of her heart again.
Can Gabby let Dane go and give her all to Brad? Will she run from Brad? Can Gabby open herself up?
Beth Michele has an outstanding book to showcase her talents. I hope that others find that her writing is just as captivating.

This was a proper romance. It was full of passion, tenderness and love, with all the uncertainty of a broken heart learning to love again. It really was very sweet!
Gabby was such a great heroine. I relate to her addiction to candy and chocolate, especially the hoarding! She was kind and funny and I enjoyed reading her inner dialogue, it had me smiling :) The romance was just adorable. There isn't much more to say which is perhaps why I went for 4 stars. I loved this book and was really smiling all the way through, but not a great deal actually happens. On the other hand, I do kind of love that. When a book focuses solely on the burgeoning romance and doesn't add any unnecessary drama. I love the getting to know each other phase, and if a book can pull of being essentially entirely about falling in love without boring me then I say well done. So, well done!
Gabby is a worthy heroine, who with her equally worthy best friend Fran, is struggling to come to terms with the death of her fiance. The story revolves around her letting go of the past and embracing the idea of being happy and connected to someone else emotionally. There are sub-plots and other characters introduced who are fun, hideous and touching in equal measure and the hero of the piece is wonderful! Perhaps too wonderful?? I don't mind the odd flaw in the leading man, otherwise he becomes too good to be believed! A tiny bit predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys romantic fiction and I would happily read other books by the author.
