So, she goes to the country to visit and stay with this aunt and finds her to be a very delightful person and she becomes really fond of her. Seems the whole town is fond of her, especially two adults that she practically raised. Zack and Annie, brother and sister who lost their parents at 12 and 7 and the aunt takes them in. As they become adults Zack and Annie are there for their adopted aunt. Zack works on her ranch, helping in all areas, etc. He is probably mid-twenties and he has been helping out the aunt since he was 12.
SPOILER----the plot thickens as our heroine discovers that the aunt is not really dying but the dad, the hot shot New York lawyer, married and divorced 5 times, actually sent her to visit the aunt to get in her good graces so that the aunt would put her in the will. Now, she discovers this and instead of coming clean to the aunt and getting her hinny back to New York, she decides to fight Zack for anything the aunt may leave him. Why would he deserve anything? After all, he has just looked out for the aunt for the past 14-20 years and is more like a son to her? No, big city lawyer girl figures she deserves it more. OH GOOD GRIEF, how could anyone like this girl. What a greedy, spiteful, creature she is. I quit reading. I cannot stand to read a book where I do not like the characters. This girl has no shame. She waltzes in after 20 years and thinks she is entitled to anything. OH and the reason they want the aunt's money is because daddy dearest invested in some bad deals and lost all his money. This father and daughter sickens me!!!! I just did not see this story as others did. I am sure in the end it will all work out but to me the thought that she would even think of doing what she did does not make her a person that I wish well. HE really deserves better. I hope the aunt finds everything out and disowns her brother and his self-centered daughter!
I hated to read that they moved in together in the sample book---after the end of this one. Couldn't they just go the marriage route and be moral?
Otherwise, I liked this author's style and there were numerous well stated, funny passages.
