I truly enjoy vampire movies, books, etc, so naturally, while at a Halloween event last year, I picked this up while looking through the gift shop. I consider myself a proficient enough of a cook that I can mostly read recipes and tell how much thought is poured into them and how well they may turn out. I must say that many of the recipes in the book looked delicious and above and beyond the typical every day type meal. Needless to say, I bought it.

Since then, we've tried 3 recipes from it and have not yet been disappointed. Our first was the Luscious Lobster Risotto, next was Akasha's Chicken Parmesan, and lastly we tried Claudia's Corned Beef and Cabbage (for St. Patrick's Day of course).

The book has a wide variety of recipes which are broken down into the following:
Bits and Bites (appetizers), Suckulent Soups & Stews, Salacious Salads, Seductive Sandwiches, Sinful Seafood, Petrified Poultry, Murderous Meats, "Organ"ick Foods (recipes made from other body parts, ie. tongue, liver), Bloodless Buffet (vegetarian), Nocturnal Nibbles (sweets), Liquid Lunches (libations), and a section called Party Themes that suggests several menus.

Overall, the book includes just over 300 recipes intertwined with tidbits and trivial information regarding vampire movies, shows, etc. Very fun, very tasty.

I picked this up at Borders' today since they are going out of business. At $10 I had to get it for my kitchen shelf to go with my Vampire Wine even if I never use it. lol Yeah the recipes are not anything new but it gets five stars for mentioning Count Duckula. There are some recipes I will definitely try from this. They list a few vampire movies in the back of the book and I only two gripes. One is that they should have listed some vampire tv shows, cartoons/anime, books/manga. I might just write up some and stick in my cookbook for the fun of it as there can never be a complete listing of vampire media. Two is that they mention the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. -_-

I purchased this book to get inspired for a vampire-themed dinner I was planning. It did give me a lot of ideas as to what I could serve and the titles were very clever; however, the recipes we just ok. Since I cook a lot, I ended up pulling recipes from other sources and creating my own titles and themes. This would be a fun purchase for someone who loves vampires and enjoys party planning. If you're an experienced cook looking for great recipes, though, I would take a pass.

Wonderful cookbook for the Halloween obsessed or the gothically inclined. Makes a wonderful gift. Most of the recipes are pretty simple but there are lots of fun Halloween facts in it too.

The names of the recipes in this book are so clichê, but so far all of the recipes have been easy, quick, and yummy. I especially like the mixed drinks list at the end of the book.
