Haven independent and funny, she has been on the end of a heart break she never saw coming. But her best friend is always there to make sure she comes out unscathed.
Spencer, loving, funny and protector, that is how she see him for the most part. Her heart would no survive if she ever lost him. He feels the same. Can friendship grow into more? Are they kidding them selves into thinking they don't share a bond that is more that what they already have?
At first Glance you would think so, but this book needs more than just a glance, cuz it will steal your heart!
I chuckled my ass off- it was a perfect tonic to the stresses of the day.
Muriel Garcia this was a delight!
Haven is such a special character, she is a hoot, staunchly independent and with a determination that gave her a personality that you couldn’t help but connect with.
It is a rare thing to find a character like her, I’m not even sure she knew how hilarious she was. She had me completely spell bound or was that just too weak with laughter to move?
Haven is happy on her own, she binned her ex and since then she has been hanging out with her long term friend Spencer. Their relationship is so tight that I wasn’t actually sure where it was headed, was it purely platonic? And if it was why?
I think I could have read nothing but Haven’s escapades and I would have been happy but add Spencer to the story and my reading time just became a whole different experience.
Spencer, well I think it would have been impossible not to love him, he is completely devoted to Haven, and he is so sweet and prepared to do whatever necessary to keep Haven safe. But her sexy new neighbour tips him over the edge and he has to make his move.
Something has to change.
They dither around quite a bit and every now and then I was a bit narked with the two of them but I liked the fact that the relationship between the two of them was given time to evolve.
All too often this genre is guilty of insta-love – this is not the case, the pair take their time, they potter their way to the inevitable and while there is a hiccup or two along the way I was glued to the page.
Fantastically constructed, beautifully expressive and refreshingly modern.
Spencer was the hot, sexy tramp and best friend of Haven Lee.
Haven is a humorous, sexy, curvaceous woman who loves Spencer like a brother.
They have known each other since childhood and been through thick and thin.
Always have given one another a hard time, made snide comments, harmless flirting, but never ever crossed the line.
It was so funny because even perfect strangers that came into their lives knew they were in love with each other and they wouldn't admit it to each other. Watching them develop these feelings of more than friendship and trying to cope with them was captured beautifully. I felt like I was right there with them. Not knowing how it would effect their friendship of if their feelings would be reciprocated was a constant battle. All based on not wanting to ruin the perfect friendship they created made it so real. I thoroughly enjoyed this!
I loved the humour and the relatablity of her characters in this book and thanks to Muriel's writing, I feel like one of the gang instead of a third party spying on a couple. This is differently a book that will cause you to laugh, squirm and even cry in places.
When reading this book, be patient. This isn't your average 'fall in love at the blink of an eye' insta-love romance, this book takes its time, like real love which provides a refreshing change to this genre.
So grab a cup of coffee/tea/wine, put your feet up, lock away your other halves and enjoy this beautifully innocent read.
Everyone hates Monday, but Haven has every right to hate this particular Monday after it causes her life to fall apart. Haven loses her job, her boyfriend and her best friend all in one day.
But, as Haven is about to find out, all them things could just give her something better....... A new job, new friends that can be trusted, and a new love interest and this new love could have been under Haven's nose the whole time
I'm so glad I signed up to read this. This is the first Muriel Garcia book that I have read but will definitely be reading more and I will be getting my a signed copy at the Leeds Signing in March! :-)
