I loved the plot and the multiple times that Finn made the journey from the present to the past.
I'm sorry, but I am a total sucker for a good ending, which did not disappoint.
Time travel stories fascinate me and I thoroughly enjoy the comparisons of two very different time periods.
I'm glad that Jackie gave us a whole lot more in the last few chapters for us to know that Finn and Artie were going to be just fine. Usually authors keep us guessing. I like the wrap-up.
Just a magical book and a thoroughly good read.
During his investigation, Finn is drawn to the story of a man from 1912 who died outside of the hotel. Through some force, Finn finds himself thrown back in time and decides to use the time to save those he was investigating. But will Finn’s heart be broken because he must leave Artie, the young man he has become interested in, behind? Or is there someway that Finn can bring Artie back with him and live the life they both want.
A beautifully written, time travel romance that will keep the reader turning the pages to figure out if Artie and Finn do get their happy ever after. The author does a great job in evoking the fear Artie feels in his own time and they desperation Finn feels to help the man he feels drawn too. Readers will find themselves cheering for the two main characters and wondering how the story ends. A great read for those interested in time travel and the possibility of what could happen.
There’s little nuggets of connection between her stories which are delightful to me — the fact that everyone seems to end up in Harlin — the connection between characters ( watch out for a cameo here ) — and the well earned HEA at the end of each stories. This story has plenty of platonic, familial and romantic love, friendships, kindness and good cheer.
Reading this story for me is like drinking a favorite warm drink (tea for me) while curling up in a warm bed on a chilly day — cozy and emotionally satisfying.
I love Jackie North’s stories. Even if her stories are fantastical due to time travel, they are entirely all too realistic in a good way. I can’t wait to read all the sequels for these stories!
Finn & Artie are just so lovely. Their romance is a whirlwind, kind of insta-love, but I didn't mind in the slightest - it was as if they were soulmates, meant to be together, waiting for one another without knowing it.
The writing was excellent; I could picture each scene vividly & I felt fully invested in the lives of the two main characters. The whole time-space continuum is a bit convoluted, but it's acknowledged that it's complicated, that the characters themselves aren't quite sure how everything works. This allowed me, as the reader, to not puzzle over it any harder than they did and to allow my own suspension of disbelief to relax.
I only wish I could spend more time with these characters, but will have to be satisfied with simply reading more of the author's work.
