I enjoyed seeing Wyatt’s constant smile and updates on his Facebook page, Wyatt’s Fight Against TM. I had heard of transverse myelitis, but didn’t know much about it. After reading this book, I am truly astonished at all that Abby, Wyatt, and her family has been through. Wyatt is an inspiration and such a trooper. He has been through so much, but never feels sorry for himself. Wyatt exudes happiness and joy in all he does, and does not put limitations on what he can and cannot do. I look forward to seeing all the amazing things he will accomplish in his life!
I am in awe of Abby after reading this book. My heart broke for her as I read about her initial devastation to Wyatt’s diagnosis. I wished I could have been there for her, to be a support through her life’s toughest challenge. But then my heart soared as I read about her acceptance of Wyatt’s disease, how her faith got her through these hardships, and how she came to grips with her family’s “new normal”. Abby is candid and honest as she tells about how she juggled (sometimes gracefully, sometimes not-so gracefully) marriage, three children, and TM. Meanwhile, her love for Jason, Jay, Austin and Wyatt shines through the pages.
Abby, thank you for sharing your story with the world. Not only will it help others who are struggling with TM or a special needs child, but it is an inspirational read for anyone who is dealing with obstacles in their life.
