A sweet and clean historical romance, set after the American Civil War, dealing with a subject matter few broach. As an amputee, the hero Joel sees himself as a broken man, and so do many others. The heroine Angela has her own problems, but when the two come together and overcome their obstacles, we get a lovely story. So few books deal with amputee main characters, and fewer still write them accurately and well. I was a little concerned when I read about Joel's wife, but was pleased to see there was no cheating in this book. It is a lovely sweet and clean old West story, and I highly recommend it.
Great book about true love , courage and honor. Some men have it and are being constantly challenged to prove it, others seem to lack character and have lost their way in life becoming bullies but I man’s worth is measured not by how many limbs he has but by his heart this book has heart, tolerance for others who are different and love. I enjoyed it very much looking forward to more books by this Heather Blanton
Ms. Blanton I'm sure must've lived another life during the wild west days of America. Her characters come to life on the page, as does the culture, the scenery...I can even smell the aroma's coming out of Martha's kitchen, startle at the vile hatred from Angela's angry father, and feel the passion for life and love buried deep in Joel's wounded heart. But the fear Angela faced bruises my own heart. Definitely a 5-Star Must Read!
