I don't know how I got through almost 54 years of life without having sampled Joan Baez's work. I was watching a video on Youtube by a film-maker who was with Joan in her home with Earl Scruggs and his two boys. They played this song and I instantly fell in love with it. I could not believe how great they all sounded just sitting in her living room live. It was fabulous, record-quality sound. So I looked up the song here on Amazon, giving it a listen to make sure it wasn't too different to what I heard from that video. It turned out to be just great, even though different instruments were used. While in Joan's living room, Earl Scruggs played banjo. On the record, no one is playing banjo (off the top of my head), but there is a sitar being played. I think if I had to choose, I would prefer the banjo version I originally heard, but it's no less enjoyable. I especially love that this is a long song. I've always hated that so many songs I love are over in just over two and a half minutes. This one is much more satisfying in that regard.
Heard this early morning on you tube music Not sure what happened next but while working I must have relistened ten or more times and it was not enough. Came home from work , listened a few more times and then purchased from Amazon Music . I do not have many days like that. It was really awesome

In an interview, Joan said that she was playing this song one time when she and Dylan were together. After she finished Dylan said "That's a good song, who wrote it?" She told him "You did, you dope!" He'd written so many songs in such a short time by then that he forgot about that one.

Again, you have a unique perspective when you grow up in the Baby Boomer era. I have followed her all of her career and have most of her music although most of it is on LP or on cassette.
