The little moments between Claire and Pieter that add up to make a romance are all well done. I can't spoil my favorite scene, but let's just say it's a lovely one that shows Pieter has always valued the very things that have always brought Claire the most shame about herself. I also loved the scenes where Pieter helps Claire through an intense medical trial, mostly because once again, Karen takes them in directions you would not expect.
I enjoyed revisiting Harper's Station and not only getting to see beloved characters again, but getting to see how the colony was changing. I wanted to know a bit more about the Amos and Grace Bledsoe Women's Refuge, and hope it pops up in more of Karen's stories or novels. I might have liked to see more character development for everyone involved, and maybe even some new faces. However, as closure to the Harper's Station series, this one is a winner.
Claire and Pieter's story provided a return to Harper's Station and a visit with all the characters of the charming women's colony. At first glance it appears Claire is the wronged party in their former relationship, but as the story unfolds it's clear Pieter has his share of wrongs to deal with too. I loved that he didn't give up on her though, and was there for her through all the ups and downs life throws their way. Add cute little Liam to the mix to tug at the heartstrings and The Love Knot provides a well-rounded love story on all fronts.
There are two full length novels in this series and two novellas, but this novella had all the depth and intricacy of it's full length counterpart and that's rare to find in so short a story. The Love Knot title is an accurate description of the way Clair and Pieter's lives had been woven together, all tied and knotted together through all their life experiences. Excellent imagery!
I enjoyed this story so much and look forward to Karen's next book, More Than Meets the Eye in her new Patchwork Family series, releasing in June!
I really loved this story about Claire and Peter. Two loves who were separated because of what Claire saw Peter doing and didn’t give him a chance to explain. Claire didn’t like him one bit when she saw him step off the train. But he had to see her because he brought a package from her sister to give to Claire. He was also there to win her back. I love these two and how forgiveness is so hard for Claire but Peter was so determined!! Forgiveness is a beautiful thing. Personally: I’d forgive Peter as soon as he get off the train. Sigh* LOL

Oh and by the way I absolutely loved the hero, Pieter, from the moment he first appeared in the story he totally made me melt!
The Love Knot is yet another gem by Karen Witemeyer!
