Love, Lies & Typewriters is a charming story that is a western/WWII mashup. I enjoyed the mixture of genres and thought the author did a good job of combining the two. The plot line is clever and despite a couple clichéd incidents, kept me turning pages. The use of foreshadowing was well done, and the ending especially fun. Lucy is sweet and likable, and I love her father and their relationship. Bryce struggles with getting out of his own way, and I felt badly for the tough time he gets for being IV-F and unable to serve during a time of great need and patriotism. Evocative description enabled me to visualize the area, and I found myself researching some of the places/incidents mention which was fun. A very enjoyable read. One final note: This is listed as a Christian story, and it is, but there are frequent mentions of drinking and smoking which may bother some readers.

I enjoyed the characters in this book , the struggles they dealt with during WWII and the real life struggles they dealt with. I had a hard time putting the book down and read it quickly. The book ended with a surprise REAL life fairy tale that took actually took place during the war period. It left me with a feeling of connection to this book. I would recommend this book to those who are tired of reading the same type of romance book all the time and those who would enjoy a story based during WWII.

A sweet, clean, Christian romance

I love this book. The love triangle between Bryce, Lucy and Dale is well written. The fact that it is Christ based and Lucy's parents are so supportive of her is so special and sweet. Dale is not presented as a bad guy even though he is selfish and self-centered. His background is obviously the reason for that. Bruce's Dad is obnoxious but not really a bad guy either. I really like the way they are all presented. The book has just the right amount of characters to make it interesting but not confuse the reader. I feel like this book would get more attention and even sell better with a different title. Maybe something addressing a "war hero" or "love developing during war time", or even the "love triangle" issue... Just my thoughts. I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.

I wasn't sure about how to write my review for this story but for me this was not a 5 star book especially as I mentally compared this book to those I have given 5 stars to. a good lighthearted story but no complex plot or characters.
The ending was totally predictable for me so I almost didn't finish the book when I got to the half way point.
I also think what was going on in my mind as I read the story was the premise of the lie and the media playing on the emotions of the public to make money (I know they were selling war bonds, but the media was also making allot of money over the lie)-so in that regard I am thinking this just reminded me of what is going on
still today-lies from the media to deceive the public.
Perhaps the timing of when I read this book is the problem for me too. also another thing I did not like-the main character never acted on her love for the reporter except for the one incident. she would have gone through with the wedding if her fiance had not broken it off--getting married even though she had not sorted out her feelings between the two men that marriage would have probably ended up in divorce in real life or she would have stuck it out and not been happy..So stepping back from that and trying not to get to serious over a light hearted story it was pretty well written, I
didn't run in to typos that stood out which I appreciated, and the story ended up well.

This is the first book I have tried from this author and I enjoyed it so much that I now own 6 of her books! A Western romance taking place during World War 2, it is even more captivating because it is based on her parents’ true love story. It is well written and easy to read, and I couldn’t help but cheer and hope for her to realize what a treasure the reporter Bryce Richard was. I loved Lucy’s dad saying, “I want Mr. Right to love you like Christ does: unconditionally and sacrificially.” I also loved when Lucy said, “My Mr. Right was standing right beside my Prince Charming.” I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author!

• Heather Blanton created very interesting characters with lots of dimensions and they were fully fleshed out.

• I was completely immersed in this story from the very beginning until the very end.

• There were po lots of witty banter that made the plot enjoyable and interesting.

• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.

• This was a clean read and I appreciated that fact.

This is another great book by Heather Blanton. This shines of her talent, the way she can go from A Lady in Defiance, which takes place in the gritty west, to this, that takes place in the west also, but in the 1940s. Look up Heather's name in the search box on Amazon for all her books. Then, buy them! You will not be disappointed. Each of her books is so well written, I, for one, felt like I was right there with the characters on a horse, in the bar, or in this case, the VFW. This book had me laughing a lot, especially at Dale's conceited nature, and at Bryce's frustrations. This was a very cute/sweet/fun book to read. Jud's dry humor was the best! Thank you Heather! Am looking forward to reading more of your books!!
