*A Love Like This is the third book in the Remembrance Trilogy. This review contains spoilers if you have not read the first two novels in the series.*
Writing this review is very emotional for me. It is excruciating to come to the edge of such an incredibly romantic adventure.
I didn't know how I could ever love him more, but with every day that passes, I did. ~Julia
If you have read my reviews for The Future of Our Past and Don't Forget to Remember Me, you know I am a HUGE Kahlen Aymes fan. Ryan and Julia stole my heart last summer and I have been patiently waiting for the conclusion of their tale. I didn't think it was possible but I love them even MORE now. A Love Like This is the final installment of the Remembrance trilogy and it is extremely difficult for me to cope with the fact that I will not be reading anything further about Ryan and Julia Matthews.
Where do you take a story that already had a happy ending? Kahlen Aymes will show you. I am beyond impressed with A Love Like This and astonished with the supreme talent that flows out of this author. It is not a simple task to write an extensive third novel involving the same main characters. Creating exciting, new content while keeping the readers interested is very tricky in a series.
A Love Like This is the perfect ending for this everlasting love story. Ryan and Julia's path has led to the ultimate happily ever after. Their special bond continues to be tested throughout the pages of this novel. Ryan and Julia feel pressure from time constraints, busy schedules, distance, and other obligations. I won't say much about the intruder who worms her way into their lives but she adds plenty of drama!Read more ›
Well... what do I say about that final instalment of a series that has held my heart captive for a year? It's a bittersweet feeling, turning the last page on "A Love Like This". So much so that I couldn't write this review right away, I had to let it resonate within me for a little while. If I'm honest, I didn't want to have to finally say goodbye to Ryan and Julia just then.
In my review of "Don't Forget to Remember Me" I said:
~There is so much about this book that I want to shout from the rooftops; the friendship, strength, devotion, heartbreak and relentless pursuit of love and happiness. This book touched a part of my soul and will never be forgotten.~
And let me just say, A Love Like This only enhances everything I felt about this amazing series up to now. The only thing I would change about that declaration of awe that I have, is to change the word "book" to "series". The Remembrance Trilogy is exceptionally superb.
From the ending of "Don't Forget to Remember Me" and the glimpse of what was to come, I knew things weren't going to be smooth sailing with the mention of the "gang" outside the hospital. A few of us theorised as to what may happen, distraught at each option we thought up. But I don't think we could have come near to the total emotional and physical toll that A Love Like This would have on me. Then again, I have come to expect nothing less from Kahlen Aymes. If her aim was to supersede any expectations we had of her and the trilogy, well then Ms Aymes- I tip my invisible hat to you on an excellent job well executed.Read more ›
This books picks up where you think everything should be good for them, and it is, but it isn't. As times change, so do people. At a certain point, I wanted to shake them both, tell them to lay it on the line, and figure it out; they're too good to have to go through what they did. And the emotions? My stomach clenched a few times because the way Kahlen Aymes writes, you actually feel their emotions.
This was the perfect book and ending for the series. I can't say enough how much I loved this whole series! This is a book about two people who are truly in love. Just the whole story of Ryan and Julia is perfect. They didn't meet one night and instantly fall in love, but they had a friendship before (which is so important), and their love was built from that friendship. Thank you Kahlen for writing such a beautiful story!
I wasn't sure where this book could go. It seemed like Ryan and Julia had made it through so many different tests to their relationship that they would be rock solid. They were so connected that Julia had immediately trusted Ryan without her memory intact. I wondered if an epilogue or a few chapters advancing a few years ahead might have been a good way to end the story of Ryan and Julia. Instead I found that even a couple so in love and connected and had a strong foundation of trust and friendship could be torn apart under the right circumstances.
I absolutely loved this book. This book was a wonderful way to showcase Ryan and Julia's relationship and a fabulous ending for the Remembrance Trilogy. For me, each subsequent book was an improvement over the one that came before it.
Ryan and Julia are married and finally living together in New York, but they quickly find that they have barely any time to spend together. Both are in demanding careers with long hours. The time they do spend together has them connecting by making love. Their chemistry is a tangible thing. I felt that connection, that need to be with the other person constantly. But because they spent their time making love, the basis of their relationship suffered. I saw them losing touch and not talking to each other. They were almost no longer each others' best friend.
The event that seems to change everything is when Ryan and a co-worker are involved in an incident in the ER. The co-worker steps in and saves Ryan's life while being seriously injured in the process.Read more ›
