Reading through these love poems, I felt like I actually
knew the writer and his partner. (I don't) I felt like I had lived
through their love with them.

Some of the poems were reminiscent of experiences I've had, but
others, even though I had no relevant experience to relate them to
from my life, still resonated deeply with me because I could feel
the emotions, from shyness to hesitancy to to lust to passion to
comfort and non-chalance. All of it evoked a feeling that made
me treasure my own relationship and respect the love that they've lived.

I must have received a different book than the other reviewers got. I bought this for my wife, who owns the kindle, and didn't get to read any of it until her return home from a trip. The poetry in the version I received is both tasteless and poorly crafted. While the poetry of Browning and Yeats and Shakespeare is more suggestive than explicit, this is explicit without any virtue of artistic use of language. After the first dozen poems my reaction was simply, "yuck!"

Not Your Old-School Poetry

I don't normally read much poetry, but a friend recommended "Love Poems for the One You Love" and I'm glad I read it. When I read poetry, I like clear, concise pieces that don't read like an ancient tome and don't run on forever. The publishers met all my poetry requirements. These aren't the old-fashioned poems everyone was required to read in high school. They're exciting, modern and graphic.

The collection contains over 100 poems that evoke a gamut of emotions. There's the shyness of new love, the jubilance of realizing that feelings are mutual and returned, and the sweetness of love that's endured a lifetime of ups and downs.

The reader can sense and see in their mind's eye the different stages a couple encounters through their relationship. Each poem is a stand alone, but they're arranged in such a way that the reader can easily picture the progression of a single relationship. From the first time the couple met, the increasing excitement of exploration, to the warm and comforting love of elder years, it's a love story that captures slices of life as they happened.

The poems are a celebration of the female body, and femininity in general, from a man's point of view. If women were ever in any doubt about the way men view them, the poems will definitely clear up any misconceptions! The poems are a testament to the many charms women possess, and how they affect a man emotionally mentally and physically.

Some of my favorite poems in the collection are the ones in which the man engages in some day dreaming about his lady, likening her to the heroine in a classic story with the writer as the knight in shining armor. It's nice to know men daydream, too.

There's a lot of powerful imagery in the poems, but it's not couched in the typical metaphors seen in many old-school poems. The imagery is obvious and modern. I liked that I didn't have to recall obscure references - they're very readable. The poems are very straightforward, don't pull any punches and make the reader feel good.

Anyone who enjoys love poems will definitely like "Love Poems for the One You Love." It's a keeper - one of those books that you keep on the shelf to read again and again. The poems make you feel good and portray an ideal love to which we all aspire.

Loved this book! So romantic and inspiring, and it really surprised me how much I could relate to each of the poems. I was even more surprised that my boyfriend picked out something like this as a gift for me, something he's not really into, but it was perfect! Very endearing and insightful. There are tons of different poems, ranging from abstract ones about the emotion of love to specific moments in time, like when you first meet someone or your wedding day. I definitely recommend this book, it's the perfect gift for your sweetheart! <3

A Heartwarming Collection of Poetry

As a fan of love poetry and poetry in general, I am always looking for something new, insightful, and heart wrenching to read. At the recommendation of a close friend, I bought a copy of this poetry collection and I have been thoroughly impressed. There are 100 incredibly tear jerking love poems in this book and not one falls flat. The publisher of this book did a wonderful job of collecting a large number of truly high quality poetry into one book. Few poetry compilations out there are so filled with quality poetry as this book is. I have recommended this book to all of my girlfriends because I know they'll love this book as I have. This is the type of book that you will take off the bookshelf every so often just to re-read it. I highly recommend this book to lovers of poetry--you won't be disappointed. A+
