I feel like the book is mainly a lot of common sense items parents should know and do anyways, but they are good reminders. Sometimes it gets hard to remember everything we need to be teaching and exemplifying for our children when it's a struggle just to get through the day with them. I have a 2 year old, and sometimes it's such a fight for every little thing, that I need this encouragement at night after she has gone to bed. The authors are true Christian's and real parents just like us and I like that each of them speaks with their own perspective in each chapter.

At first I didn't like that the husband wrote most of the text and the wife wrote a short summary at the end of every chapter. But, as he explained her summaries where the best part of the book and summed everything up in a simple and wise manner. That said, I liked both commentaries of how to raise children in a way that honors Christian values and recognizes the world we live in. The authors have suggested simple ways to spend time with your kids, to sit and listen to them, to be with them the way Jesus wants us to be with him, daily and regular. It's ultimately about creating relationship with your kids and God and provides a step by step guide on how to accomplish that in a culture that values things outside of ourselves and family unit.

I would recommend this book to all parents. This should be a mandatory read for new parents before they give birth as well as a yearly refresher read!
