For once I would like to find a romance story with depth and without the emphasis on characters who are just waiting to get naked with each other.

The story centres around Amy and Kevin. Amy is a widow of about 18 months and Kevin is a cop who responds to her 911 call about a B&E at her home. Their eyes meet, he gets aroused watching her lips move and her boobies straining against her top and during her statement she gets all flustered thinking about him without clothes. i mean hello! Who does this kind of thing after a traumatic event? Perhaps a realistic storyline please.
Two things really bugged me 1- somewhere in the first few chapters Kevin talks about going home and giving a kiss to the one person who loves him no matter what...no explanation. Who is this person. Presumably a child but we don't get told that until much later, it's never mentioned that he has one in the beginning during his character development
2- on their first date (before they actually go out) they are upstairs coaxing Amy's new dog out from under her bed and they kiss and Kevin hands instantly gravitate to her chest. To me, and its just my opinion, shows he has absolutely no restraint, no respect for her or the fact she is a widow (who he knows is on her first date since her husband died.) I disliked him as a character from this point on and it just ruined it for me.
The ending is sweet, a little cliche but it has a nice little twist.
If you like a slow paced romance, with minimal plot and enjoy the fifty shades thing, then go for it. Could be a great rainy day story but I didn't like it. Kudos to the author for donating some of the proceeds to help animals.

Love to the rescue has all the elements of a good romance: a cop hero, a widowed heroine, a cute little girl and a rescue dog. More importantly it's got a great story - it's a feel good read that will keep you turning pages until the end. this is the kind of book you pull out with a cup of hot cocoa in front of the fireplace and settle in for a good time.

Amy,a widow and romance writer; Kevin, a father and cop; Sarah,a daughter who needs a mother and Rover a loving dog who needs to learn trust again and a loving home.
When they all come together you have a wonderful heartwarming story that has captured your heart and edge of the seat at times.
This is a well written story to read during the holidays or anytime of year. Curl up by a warm fire and enjoy a book full of love and trust.
Good read!

In this story, everyone gets a second chance at love, even the dog. I really liked watching the progress of the relationship between Kevin and Amy. Both of them widowed, wary of new relationships and not sure they're ready, they start cautiously, dating for months before he even tells her that he has daughter. I liked the parallels between the rescued dog learning to trust again set against the humans doing the same. Amy's involvement with Kevin's daughter, Sarah, also gives the little girl a second chance to trust a mother figure. Even the teenage drug abuser that broke into Amy's house, ransacking the place and robbing her, gets a second chance to turn his life around. I enjoyed this book and will read more by this author.
Heat factor mild.

They are both widowed. She is a romance writer; he is a police officer, they meet when her house was broken into. They are immediately attracted to each other. This is their story from the time they meet to their engagement. Everything and everyone is too perfect and too sugary sweet. The author has a nice writing style but the storyline needs a little something more to be really interesting.

If you've had a really bad week and need to escape for a while this might do the trick, but don't expect any great literature.

Again I wish there was a 3 and half I could give this book.
The author spent a lot of time and research concerning shelters
and abandoned animals. She also presented a situation where
the main character took a dog home from the shelter, since she worked
from home so the dog would have company. Her friend selected a cat,
because the cat could be home alone and not be bothered by her owner
working so many long hours. The story showed how bonded the heroine and the dog became after time.

Gosh it was so ooooo boring. Yeah story was developed but it came along slowly. I read it all quickly hoping it would pick up but alas.....it starts out great but leaves you wanting. I should be able to fall asleep now. Will be deleted as soon as I am finished with this review. Not even the characters are worth saving brain memory. Blah, blah, blah.
