When I first read this story I hated the end. Like, throw my phone and make growling noises, hate. But, that has no real reflection on the story itself. It's actually a wonderful, well crafted story with flawed, real characters and unexpected twists and turns. The primary problem is that I was in the mood for a happy clappy, formulaic ridiculously hea. I won't even begin to self analyze what this says about me but sometimes I just don't want a challenge, I want love at first sight and epilogues with babies and laughter and just writing this out makes me feel silly but that's the mood I was in when I came across this book and this book is none of those things. Not even close. But, what it is (now that my need for literary happiness has passed I can be less biased) is an interesting, different story that I haven't been able to fully get out of my head a week after reading. In that respect, it's better than the stories I was in the mood for that hit the spot and are forgotten quickly.
This one will stay with you. Go in with an open mind and get to know the characters. Mind the ending, it's not to be read in public unless you are slightly more mature than I am and won't throw a growling fit.
