It offended my heart, mind and soul to read about the historic devastation so painstakingly researched by Bob and brilliantly intertwined within the storyline. Many times I just wanted to sit and cry at the injustice inflicted upon innocent human beings, their homes, families, holy places, Mother Earth, Mother Nature, etc. and for what reason? - just for the satisfaction of some people with big egos, who thought they were better than others, by wielding a horrible power in unwarranted and inhumane ways.
This story is not simply about the love of Rose and Frank. It touches their families and friends for years and years to come. The ending...well you'll just have to read the book and find out about that yourself folks. I'm not going to spoil it for you. It is; however, spiritually guided and has a delightful conclusion. This book is not a romantic novel geared towards being read mainly by women, but by men too as it deals a lot with the bloody issues of war and intrigue.
Special Notation: This book is worthy of a movie in itself. It has all the features you would want there to be (just like the good old-fashioned black and white war movies) - wonderful characters, excellent plot, love and romance, military intrigue and a great heartfelt ending !!!
This is a wonderfully written book...except for a lack of punctuation causing run on sentences, as well as typos. These issues may have been addressed in more recent copies of his publication, but they were not in my copy.
The story also kept my attention because I live in Jefferson County, not far from Three Mile Bay where the story begins and ends.
Readers who enjoy historical fiction as well as unpredictable romance will find this story satisfying.
