I kinda hated the going back and forth with Kats "husband" Bobby... where I understood where he came from with not wanting to lose the daughter he'd claimed and the woman he loved, there is never an excuse to put your hands on a woman, especially in front of her child.
I was gratful for the friends that kat made that helped her out when she needed them when she moved away, but I really couldn't stand them when they took the side of Bobby over her when she had clearly been beatin and her home vandalized... not to mention the word of the therapist he was seeing over his anger issues... I mean come on! Only reason I would have went to that funeral was to spit in his dead face!
And B... how cute was she?! Adorable and like Brooks I wanted to melt everytime she called him Daddy... he was such a good daddy, I'm sad it all went the way it did but so glad it worked out for them in the end, I hate all the wasted time without each other but it all worked out...
Love the HEAs..
5 star read just cuz I love Brooks so much and I loved his POV!
Brooks has loved Katy since they were babies. He has always been her protector and at 12 when her parents tragically die she comes to live with him and his twin (Branch) and their parents. Unfortunately, Branch decides he wants Katy for himself and sets upon a path to drive Brooks and Kat (as he calls her) apart. To get away from his twin and his love he enlists into the Army, but the unconditional love he feels keeps him alive for the best surprise he could imagine when he returns home.
- Sometimes love isn't enough. Sometimes it takes a little fate, some bad experiences, and a lot of time.
- Sure, we had hurdles to get over, but we were a team now. No, we were a family.
- “Brooks and I have decided that we’re not going to dwell on what’s already been done. We can’t change any of it. We just want to move forward, with our daughter and our future.”
- “Waiting only prolongs the inevitable.”
- “You know how to do all that?” “Do you think I just wear this uniform and walk around all day looking sexy?”

This is a very big read, some 600 odd pages even more than the first book and even though we know the overall story you don't for one minute regret reading Brook's POV.
Once Brook goes off to join the Army and is Posted, to say it gets emotional is an understatement, Jennifer Foor has such a way with words the way Brook's feelings and emotions are portrayed feels so real and I spent most of my time feeling totally heart broken and just wanted to cry for everything that he was going through and what he thought he had lost.
I couldn't help thinking about Katy because of course we already knew what she had endured but as Brook was going through all his pain and heartache I was imagining how Katy was coping and trying to link the storyline together.
Love Survives absolutely consumes you Brook and Katy's story is one thing, and the situation between Brook's and Branch is extremely sad too, it breaks your heart it really does, it's that Family/Sibling rivalry that J.F. does so well and all that we witnessed while Brook was out in Afghanistan is something else and told extremely well, you could feel every shocking situation it's certainly an eye opener and makes you realise
how lucky you are, to be able to come out of it alive.
This story is a perfect example how two beautiful people who have loved each other all their life but went through their own personal hell to get what they deserved all along, each other..!!
What a beautiful epilogue, I remembered it the first time around especially the Wedding and the Valentine card and their beautiful little family, just perfect.!
This story will touch your heart in so many ways and one I will remember for a while that's for sure..!!
Thank you Jennifer Foor..
Learning how Brooks dealt with all of Branch's selfish and very callous attitude. Branch really did not deserve to get Katy.
It seemed everyone in the family knew how deep the love Katy and Brooks was, except her!
Seeing how Brooks dealt with the knowledge of being the one who was there for Katy on the anniversary of her parents death, with how he coped with his deployment, with trying to deal with it all on his own, including his colleagues, was quite sad. I was happy that he finally let Trevor in, and they became firm friends, only to loose him during combat. I liked Spense, she was a distraction and that helped him get through the ordeals of loosing the love of his life , and also his best friend, but Brooks also helped Spense through her ordeals.
I loved seeing how distraught Brooks and Kat were once they both realised Kat was marrying Branch, how he was when he thought he was going to get her, but only to have her drive off alone.
He really was struggling once he realised that he and Kat had made a beautiful little girl, I loved how they both bonded and so quickly. Full credit to Brooks, not wanting to step on Bobby's toes even though it was killing him.
So lovely being part of their early reunions and how he always knew what and when to say the right thing.
I also loved the reunion between, Kat and Branch how she handed him a new ass about how selfish he had been and with how Branch took the news.
Its been a real - rip your heart out to have it pieced back together read.
Thanks for letting us have Brooks POV, it could have not been easy to have written, highly emotional I imagine.
This was beautifully written, the characters were all great, Yes even Branch.
