The story does start off a bit slow in terms of relationship development between all five men. The focus at first is on learning a bit about all of them and how they connect to each other, with that split between Colin/Shaun, Shaun/Zach, and Dane/Wesley before starting to tie them all together. That takes up the first half of the book, so it’s a bit before we get to see the dynamic as a group. With so many characters all as equal mains, that does mean that we don’t get as in-depth into their personalities and connections as we would have if this was just a couple or even throuple.
I liked the paranormal aspect, it added an interesting element to the story not just from how it fits within the men’s relationship, but also with the bit of suspense it brings along the way. It’s difficult to tell that this is a paranormal story from the blurb, though the lovely cover does hint at it with the wolf in the artwork.
Love Times Five was a solid 4-star read for me. I know polyamory is not for everyone, but if you do like reading about more than just a couple this book is a good example of an author making multiple, equal partners work as a cohesive group. This story is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and steamy sexual content.
Introducing a vampire hunter and his wolf friend into the mix caused the story got a little convoluted.
I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to anyone who likes multiple partner paranormal stories
I loved the story, I loved the paranormal elements, and I adored the separate and all-encompassing bonds between these men. I fell in love with the men equally, as they did with each other. The story was so much more than just sex, and it actually took some time before the men were all together as lovers. For someone who enjoys paranormal romantic menage, and who can open up their heart and mind to allow the possibility of love between more than two, this book will not disappoint, and I highly recommend it.
Colin’s reaction to the paranormal was instant and hard to believe. He didn’t question it at all…just accepted it. Wes and Dane were more suspicious but eventually came around. I’m not an avid paranormal reader so I can’t speak to the accuracy of any part of the story that contained that info. The angst related to that was over pretty quick and dissolved in a way that made me believe it wasn’t really an issue to begin with.
There was a twist in the book that took me by surprise. I like their long-term plans and the arrangements they made as a group.
This is a little bit long and I did skim some parts of the story but I liked it overall. I didn’t really like one character over the others and didn’t have a problem with any of them. If you can handle the poly relationship, this is definitely a good read.
