A complex, involved beginning turns out to be only the tip of the iceberg. The further we delve into this story the more vast and interconnected it becomes. You never get to step off, take a break or breathe.
Sid Rivers - Bastard Extraordinaire!
Jack Brown - Sexy criminal looser. Or something else entirely?
Drake - Big, silent, broody, bada--. Trust me, you don't want to piss off Drake.
Sweeny - Tech geek genius and sex kitten.
Jeffery Marn - He's the one pulling all the strings. Right?
Larry - Sid's legal partner - or is he?
Shane - ???
On the surface this is a roller coaster ride through an unscrupulous world of law and crime, justice and vengeance. But, oh so surprisingly, upon finishing, I think you'll find that this entire season was a mind game played by the author to see if he could make you, the reader, his bi/ch! So maybe that makes Brandon Shire the wicked man. Let's say it's something of an experiment to see if you can justify loving wicked men.
These guys are bad, evil, corrupt, mean, bastards that more than one reader has walked away from. These aren't good guys making nice, uh uh. So, the mission, if you choose to accept it, is to see if you can get to the end without loving these guys just a little bit.
If you can't set your moral compass in the margin for a moment maybe this one's not for you. But if you're intrigued to find out why other readers have fallen madly in love with these nefarious, debauched men then grab this and see if you can keep your own morality in check, or if you too become Shire's little pawn.
Shire is a story builder. He shovels around intrigue, layers on some gritty dilemmas, and places each brick so solidly that you don't even see where you've taken your misstep. Be wary of that whiplash effect, because there is going to be more than one incident of, "I didn't see that coming!"
**I would like to thank Brandon Shire for providing me with a review copy in exchange for my honest review.
Having never read anything by Brandon Shire, I wasn't sure what to expect. By the end of Episode One, I knew I had to have more. Several hours later, when I reached the end of Season One, I was asked to log onto Goodreads if I thought there should be a Season Two. Of course there should be a second season. Why isn't it already written and published?
This fast-paced story kept me glued to my seat from start to finish. The characters had depth, the plot had twists and turns, and the sex was hot with a capital H. What I liked most, though, was the way Mr. Shire painted his world and his characters without overdoing the descriptions. He gave me just enough to picture the story in my head, but left the details up to my imagination. Anything more and I would have been skimming for the actual story.
Action, suspense, passion, greed-What's not to love? If you're looking for a great story that will have you squirming in your seat one minute, and sitting on the edge of it the next, then look no further. I highly recommend The Love of Wicked Men, by Brandon Shire.
I don’t know where I got the recommendation but I can’t believe this book never hit my radar until now. Such a great story, fantastic characters. All of them. I really, really enjoyed this. I hope like hell there is a season 2. I think Jack & Sid could be one of my favorite couples!

Parts of this book are excellent but sadly the 'flights of fancy' don't really integrate. The author's verbal diarrhoea is the main problem. This book would benefit by being edited to half its length.
Did I enjoy it? In part.
Was it worth the time spent reading it? Definitely not.
