A light contemporary romance that could easily become a Hallmark movie, this story features an exotic location and culture from the perspective of a workaholic and a free-spirit. The emotions the characters feel is very vivid, and readers will easily find themselves agreeing or disagreeing with the character's perspectives on what to prioritize. The romance itself is a clear draw with instant sparks between the main characters, only made more entertaining by the loving meddling from Qara's family. ~InD'tale Magazine

I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this stand alone holiday themed romance. In the beginning we meet Qara, her sister Rose and Grandmother. Qara is a workaholic who is on track in her firm for a big promotion. Her grandmother gifts the girls a trip to her homeland, Mongolia over the holidays to learn more about her heritage. Upon arrival, they meet another American, Ben who seems to be interested in Qara. Ben is a writer who is stuck on his second book, a fantasy middle school book. He picked a trip to Mongolia to try and solve his writer’s block. The grandmother, Emme, and Rose invite Ben along on their sightseeing and meals. At first Qara begs off with work duties. She has her phone on all the time, taking conference meetings and working up new pitches for her clients. She finally realizes that her grandmother won’t be around forever and wants Qara to see some of the culture of the country.

Ben ends up doing things with Emme and Rose while Qara is working. He sees how she has trouble not constantly pushing herself. He finally is able to get some writing done while immersed in the winter wonderland of Mongolia. Qara’s constant putting work first is a turnoff to Ben. He is interested in her and things start to progress where they have fun partaking in the cultural activities until she ruins it. She also thinks Ben is lazy since he isn’t killing himself to meet a major book deadline his agent has given him. Once Qara realizes what her grandmother hoped for her visit, she starts trying to join in. She comes up with the idea of a birthday party for her grandmother with her family in Mongolia attending. Ben and Rose share the duties with her.

I found learning about Mongolian culture to be fascinating. I didn’t know anything about the country so this was extremely interesting. It was frustrating that Qara and Ben seemed at times to be at odds. There was much angst as I wondered if they would resolve their differences as well as wonder what would happen in their respective careers. I give it 5 stars and highly recommend it.

Workaholic Qara takes a last minute trip with her sister and grandmother to Mongolia. Her grandmother wants to share her country with them. Qara has lots of work to do and the timing is not great, but she just can't say no to her grandmother. Ben is an author with a deadline and writer's block. With his deadline quickly approaching he decides to jump a plane to Mongolia looking for inspiration. After their "meet cute" Ben knows that he is attracted to Qara and would like to get to know her, but her obsession with work is a deal breaker. For him family has to come first. Can these two opposites resist their attraction while her grandmother plays matchmaker? Cute read.

This is Qara Whitaker and Benjamin Lacoyl's story.
Qara Whitaker fidgeted in her leather chair while she waited for the verdict on her marketing proposal. Her client, Charles Willis, was taking his sweet time, thumbing through each individual page of the thick report from his spot in front of her sleek wooden desk.
A million dollars. That was how much landing this client would net the Laxel Corporation. Qara had busted her butt on the proposal, for good reason.
Ben Lacoy sprawled across the brown microfiber couch in his Brooklyn apartment as he mindlessly scrolled through apps on his phone, hoping that something, anything, would pop out at him and end his writer’s block. But no matter how many photos of fit people posing on mountaintops he saw or funny quips he read, his motivation refused to so much as stir.
Ben tossed his phone aside and glanced over at the desk by the window where his laptop waited. The gleaming blank, white page was like an accusation.
I recommend reading.
Love on the Winter Steppes by Paris Wynters is a 4 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Paris Wynters.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Qara and Ben are both on a spur of the moment trip to Mongolia when they unexpectedly meet at the airport. Qara’s grandmother brought Qara and her sister on the trip so they could learn more about their heritage and meet some more of their family. Ben is hoping to kickstart the writer’s block he has been experiencing. Learning they are staying at the same hotel, Qara and Ben decide to see the sights together. But while out, Qara tends to take work calls which annoys Ben. Ben’s parents were workaholics and put their job first. Just as Ben was just starting to think maybe him and Qara could start dating when they got back to New York City, he realizes he doesn’t want a woman who is like his parents. But with a little matchmaking from Qara’s grandmother and her sister, along with the magic of the winter wonderland, they just might be able work through their differences after all.

This book really swept me away. I enjoyed the romance, but I also enjoyed learning about Mongolia and their people and culture. This is the first book I have read by this author and it won’t be the last. She has a way with her words that really bring the story to life.
