This is book #4 of the series involving Hunter who is the oldest of ten children in the Abbott family. He is also completely different from all of the rest of his family members. He's always so serious, responsible, hard working, and really....sort of quiet and reserved. But that's not all...while everyone else dresses in jeans and flannel shirts, Hunter always dresses like he's just stepped in from a GQ photo shoot, no matter what the occassion may be.
Hunter been infatuated with Megan (the waitress who works at her sisters diner across the street) for years and years, but she has always had her sites set on his brother Will. He leaves work really late one night only to find Megan crying her heart out, right behind the family business. After consoling her, he offers to share his Pizza and salad with him back at his house. After she calms down they eat and then they talk things out. But Hunter notices that she is trying to keep him at a distance. After years of waiting in the wings, he's not about to let that happen. This is his chance to finally make her, his. He's bound and determined to find a way to crash through those walls. He's waited for years for the chance to get close to her, and he's ready and willing climb mountains to scale those walls she's built around her, if he has to.
Megan is reluctant to get involved with anyone right now. Everyone she's ever loved has either died or just left her behind. Her parents died in a car crash one snowy night when she was still a senor in high school. Her older sister, Nina was finishing her senoir year in college when this all went down. One night Nina and her husband told her that they have decided to move to France, after he was offered a teaching position, and that they will be leaving in a little over a weeks time. That means she'll not only be left all alone again, but she'll also be out of a job, too. Her heart can't take anymore hurt, so keeping her distance from everyone is the only way she knows how to survive. Hunter may be kind, understanding, funny, and very good looking, but he's also has the ability to break her heart if she lets him get to close. That's not going to happen, if she has anything to say about it.
Like I stated up above; I loved everything about this book, but I don't want to say too much for fear of giving away the story. I will say that I loved the inneraction between these two throughout the whole book, and the sparks that flew between the two of them whenever they were in the same room, could have easily started a huge firestorm. And OMG....their adventure to "The Pigs Belly" had me rolling on the floor one minute, and fanning myself the next.
I love this series because even though this story is basically focused on mainly this particular couple, Marie let's us also catch back up with the people in the past books, too. All the lovable seconary characters, all help to make this series very interesting at times, too. Lincoln and Elmers scheming against the children's backs. The bickering between the children (all in good nature, of course) just makes it all seem so much more real. If any of you come from a big family, like I do, then you know what I mean. And then there's Molly, who rules the roost like a drill sargent, and Fred who is always so hysterical!
I can't wait to read the next book, so don't make us wait to long, Marie. Please? I highly recommend this book, as well as this whole series, to everyone.
Surprisingly, I enjoyed getting to know the real Megan, the woman who only uses her annoying attitude to protect her heart. It was nice watching her open up to Hunter. He was opened about his feelings and so willing to get a HEA. It made him a refreshing hero. Nevertheless, I did feel his falling in love with her was too fast and at times, unrealistic. IMO, they still had a long way to go before they could talk love.
My favorite parts without a doubt, the ones that made this book even better, were:
*everything with Will and Cameron
*the Abbotts meddling in Hunter and everybody else's business
Will and Cameron got a bit of a spotlight in the best, funniest and most adorable way! And the Abbotts meddling in was hilarious. I loved there was more of Ella, Charley, Lucas and Landon. I'm looking forward to their stories.
And of course because this is Hunter's book, there was a lot of his twin, Hannah. It was sweet to see how united they are, and incredible heartwarming to catch up with her and Nolan.
'And I Love Her' was a huge improvement after I didn't like the previous book of the series. Hunter and Megan's romance was at times unbelievable but at others, sweet. If you've been following the series since book 1, I definitely recommend you to check this book, especially if you (like me) are a fan of Will and Cam.
There is a bonus short story - A Day in the Life at the end.
