This was another keeper from Marie Force. Her books to me at least have never failed to make me laugh, cry, scream at the kindle and just over all love every book I have read by her.
In the previous books we have seen Megan be nasty to Cam and have watched Hunter pine for her. I will be honest until this book I really didn't like Megan and I was not looking forward to Hunter trying to have anything with her, but this book has helped me understand her better and I have grown to like her.
When Megan was a senior in high school she was waiting at home for her parents to come home. Her sister was away at college so she was alone when the police came and told her about the accident that had taken her parents away. Apparently that sent her into a destructive cycle. She slept around to try to run away from the guilt, but she figured out that it would just keep chasing her.
After she kissed Will at a party she decided to just fix a crush on him to keep other people away so she didn't risk getting hurt again. She has been afraid of a lot of things since her parents were killed and it has held her back.
She gets news from her sister that her husband got a job teaching in France and they were going to be selling the diner and moving. She was so upset because not only was she losing her sister but she was losing her job too. She was so upset she had to leave the diner and think.
That is how Hunter found her behind their store crying. He took her to his house for some pizza and just to talk. He didn't want to take her home because he finally had her close. He knew without a shadow of a doubt that she was who he was supposed to be with, but it is hard when the person of your affection keeps telling you it is not serious that she can't do serious just fun. (How many people have heard that before).
Well, to Hunter it was already serious. He wanted her and he was going to do anything he could to keep her. She was falling for him slowly but she was fighting it with every breath that she had.
They were doing great having good talks, laughs, and making love. It was all perfect to Hunter and he felt like it was feeling the same for Megan as well. He took her to Sunday dinner to let her family know he was that serious to him. His mom got her to join them in on their yearly family photo. Things were going great until something happened while Hunter was rock climbing with his brothers.
What do you say? Well, I am not going to tell you. I want you to read the book. I do not like giving spoilers because I feel if you give out spoilers then there is no reason to read the book and they are just to good not to share the whole thing.
Now the other thing I love about this series is that it goes to other's in the series and lets you see what is happening in their lives as well as what is to come in future books.
Will and Cameron had a great part in this book and if you have been rooting for them like I have then I really encourage you to read this.
Hannah and Nolan had some news in this as well as an almost tragedy but thanks to Megan that didn't happen.
Colton had an embarrassment but hilarious moment with his family in this one.
Ella, poor Ella who had it really bad for Gavin had a very sad moment in this book, and I really can't wait to read their story.
So, I know you are wondering theses questions:
What happened to Hunter?
Did him and Megan break up?
What happened to Cam and Will?
What happened to Hannah?
What was so funny about Colton?
Well, if you want the answers you really need to read this book. I look forward to talking to you all hopefully tomorrow after I read the novella that is next.
Until next time. Happy Reading!!!!!!
This is book #4 of the series involving Hunter who is the oldest of ten children in the Abbott family. He is also completely different from all of the rest of his family members. He's always so serious, responsible, hard working, and really....sort of quiet and reserved. But that's not all...while everyone else dresses in jeans and flannel shirts, Hunter always dresses like he's just stepped in from a GQ photo shoot, no matter what the occassion may be.
Hunter been infatuated with Megan (the waitress who works at her sisters diner across the street) for years and years, but she has always had her sites set on his brother Will. He leaves work really late one night only to find Megan crying her heart out, right behind the family business. After consoling her, he offers to share his Pizza and salad with him back at his house. After she calms down they eat and then they talk things out. But Hunter notices that she is trying to keep him at a distance. After years of waiting in the wings, he's not about to let that happen. This is his chance to finally make her, his. He's bound and determined to find a way to crash through those walls. He's waited for years for the chance to get close to her, and he's ready and willing climb mountains to scale those walls she's built around her, if he has to.
Megan is reluctant to get involved with anyone right now. Everyone she's ever loved has either died or just left her behind. Her parents died in a car crash one snowy night when she was still a senor in high school. Her older sister, Nina was finishing her senoir year in college when this all went down. One night Nina and her husband told her that they have decided to move to France, after he was offered a teaching position, and that they will be leaving in a little over a weeks time. That means she'll not only be left all alone again, but she'll also be out of a job, too. Her heart can't take anymore hurt, so keeping her distance from everyone is the only way she knows how to survive. Hunter may be kind, understanding, funny, and very good looking, but he's also has the ability to break her heart if she lets him get to close. That's not going to happen, if she has anything to say about it.
Like I stated up above; I loved everything about this book, but I don't want to say too much for fear of giving away the story. I will say that I loved the inneraction between these two throughout the whole book, and the sparks that flew between the two of them whenever they were in the same room, could have easily started a huge firestorm. And OMG....their adventure to "The Pigs Belly" had me rolling on the floor one minute, and fanning myself the next.
I love this series because even though this story is basically focused on mainly this particular couple, Marie let's us also catch back up with the people in the past books, too. All the lovable seconary characters, all help to make this series very interesting at times, too. Lincoln and Elmers scheming against the children's backs. The bickering between the children (all in good nature, of course) just makes it all seem so much more real. If any of you come from a big family, like I do, then you know what I mean. And then there's Molly, who rules the roost like a drill sargent, and Fred who is always so hysterical!
I can't wait to read the next book, so don't make us wait to long, Marie. Please? I highly recommend this book, as well as this whole series, to everyone.
