What an incredible testimony against abuse and of our Savior that saw him through to survive it! --his escape from the spidery tentacles of an apparent, sociopathic mother, and hot-tempered father (a police officer at the time), along with being victimized by the corrupt found in social institutions. It is a story that will sober errant children (complaining of good parents as bad), and give hope to those abused - if either are privy to excerpts from his story. Singled out from his other siblings - for abuse (as sociopaths often do), other insights unfold.
It occurred to me that he had lived a lot like a bull rider who only has to stay on a bull for 8-seconds to have victory. Only John, a small and helpless child, had to hang on for dear life on a daily basis and on into adulthood - before his victory could be claimed.
Read his book... read 'HIS LIFE'... You'll be holding on to every word and unable to lay it down.
I felt such anger towards his mother. And the system...it failed him miserably. He was failed by basically every single adult in his life. To come out better is nothing short of a miracle. That speaks volumes to me about the type of person he is, and the strength he has.
I don't like to post spoilers, but will leave you with this. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK. Then go give your children extra big hugs and tell them you love them.
