After a week off the grid, I finally get reception and the first voicemail I hear stuns me.
“You’re summoned to Baker’s Creek by the late William Tower Aldridge.”
Twelve Years.
It’s been twelve years since the last time I heard from the Aldridge family.
That one voicemail changes everything—I need the money the late William offers.
In exchange, I have to live eighteen months in Baker’s Creek.
I’ve survived cancer, the jungle, and the plague.
This should be easy compared to all that, right?
Or so I think until...I see him.
Confident, charismatic, bitter, sexy as hell, Doctor Hayes Benjamin Aldrige.
My first love, my first kiss—my late husband’s brother.
He hates me.
He still hasn’t forgiven me for walking out on him, and I can’t blame him. It’s been over ten years, and I still have feelings for him.
But I faked it once and I can fake it twice.
I can survive eighteen months and that’ll be the last time I see the Aldridge brothers.
Isn’t it?

From the Author
My Blaire. But she's no longer mine.
Her striking blue eyes look a shade darker than I remember.I can't tell what she's feeling for me. She was acting strange.
Why is she here?
Because since my father died, I've been doing what I'venever done before. Praying for a miracle. For her.
It's probably something less magical and more practical.Like my father saying "take that, Hayes" in his own way. Well, the joke is onhim because seeing her doesn't make me angry. It makes me everything but.
If only I knew why she came. But that shouldn't matter now. She's here, and this is my chance to be back in her life. And the only way todo that is to earn her trust, and show her I am different from that coward shedated in college.
But can we become something more?
What if she's happy?
I can't ruin her new life just because I did that with mine.
Running a hand through my hair, I decide to go to theconference room. First, I need to know why Blaire is here, and Mr. Parrish cananswer my questions. But when I enter the conference room, Henry is speakingand already making some decisions.
"I vote that we sell the ski resort. It needs too muchwork."
"We don't know who gets the resort," I remind him.
"What if he split his fortune in equal parts?" He asks. "I'mnot running it for you, a$$holes."
"You own Merkel Hotels and Spas," I remind him. "You couldpotentially buy our shares and do something with it since you have experience."
"F$*k no!" He growls. "It's a money pit."
He's always growling like a wounded wild animal, pushingaway everyone, in case they're around to hurt him. I glare at him as a way toremind him I'm not part of his staff or in the mood to tolerate his f***ingattitude. I wish his assistant, Sophia, was here. She seems to know how tocontrol him. Instead, she's in town with Arden, Mills' son, and we get tobabysit her a$$hole boss.
"Have you heard from Vance?" I ask Mills.
"No. I have a friend searching for his unit," Henryinterrupts. "He's a Delta Force or some special forces officer. Did youknow that?"
I look at him. "Our little brother is a bada$$?"
"According to my sources, he is, and he's not easy to trackdown," he answers.
"As I mentioned, we need everyone to be here in order to readthis testament," the lawyer says in a monotone voice and checks his phone."Just a reminder, you're running out of time."
"We don't even want the f***ing money," Beacon says. "Keepit, man."
His green eyes, which look just like everyone else's, spitfire, even when his posture seems relaxed.
He sits next to Pierce. Both wear suits, but even thoughthey look alike, it's easy to see the differences between them. Pierce seemslike he's in his element while Beacon is about to rip off his clothes becausehe hates wearing suits.
It's surprising howsix guys, who came from the same father, can be so different.

William Aldridge was--what we would call in more modern terms--a manw#0re. He married one woman, with whom he had two sons, but proceeded to have multiple affairs resulting in five more sons. Each of his sons has his own wealth--not including their $10-billion inheritances--so when William dies, none of them really cares about his estate. That is until William throws a crazy twist into his will--unless his surviving children (and their families) move back to the small town in Oregon that the Aldridges founded, the town and its inhabitants would suffer greatly.
These men had no relationships with each other. Besides a few forced summers together when they were children, they didn't really know each other; to say they were estranged would be an understatement.
On top of all of this, throw in Blaire Wilson...ex-girlfriend of Hayes Aldridge...widow of Carter Aldridge, Hayes full-blooded younger brother. Uh-huh...you read that right!
I love stories where things aren't exactly what they seem. I also love stories with damaged/broken/bad boys. In this story (and the ensuing series), I get six! [**SIGH**]
I think I'm going to enjoy this series! (And I just want to mention that I saw the couple for the next book before I got to end of this one. I actually see two others, but I'll let you know if I'm right when we get there.)
The only thing she could focus was if there was any money left to her it would help her continue to help others.
Hayes never forgot Blair his one love, the one he never got over, but he pushed her away and she married his brother. He didn’t know that she was coming to Baker’s Creek when they all had to be there for his late father’s idea of controlling them one last time, but now that she was and he found out the real reason she married his brother he’s going to do everything to show her why she loved him before and could again.
Loved Blaire, she certainly had the feel of a family therapist with the way she handled Hayes. She's a strong independent woman who has one soft spot, and one look from him has her melting where she stood.
Hayes always loved Blaire. There's never been anyone else. He just felt they were too young in college to become so serious and he had a future to plan. Now he wants to win her back regardless of her walls and shields. He'll take them on one at a time until he wins her over.
Great read, lots of family drama and how they have to come together to fulfill their father's will or a whole town's future can be at stake.

"Blaire Wilson stole my heart the day we met, and her memory makes it impossible to fall in love with anyone."
Hayes Aldridge has spent the last twelve years missing the love of his life. While he's questioning where his life is going, he gets the call that his father is on his death bed. Unfortunately, by the time he arrives at his bedside, it's too late. Little does he realise just how much his life is about to change.
"My heart is just like every muscle, it remembers Hayes, and if I'm not careful, it'll remember how to love him."
Blaire Wilson has spent the last twelve years trying to forget the love of her life. She's been travelling around the world and doing good wherever she goes. When she gets a summons to Baker's Creek, where the Aldridge family originates from, little does she realise how much her life is about to change.
"You're the stars of my night, the sun of my days."
This was such a fab read! We get an introduction to the Aldridge brothers and their messed up history. Blaire and Hayes were wonderful together. Twelve years apart didn't erase the connection and chemistry between them, and I loved that they came together so naturally and seamlessly. Blaire was sweet, honest and forgiving, and I loved how she didn't play games and was just straightforward with Hayes, even about her fears. I loved Hayes' bravery in putting himself out there, both with Blaire and with his brothers. There was no doubting his love, passion and devotion for Blaire, and his regret about the past, and his determination to pull his family together.
This story was humorous, romantic, and complex with family ties and undercurrents. I'm so excited for this whole series and the books to come!

I enjoyed this book it has a plethora of different characters in it that are colourful, interesting and funny; I will probably read the rest of the brothers stories.

I thought there was a bit too much dialogue between the main characters and too much internal dialogue. Also, too many secondary characters (the brothers) made it a little confusing to follow sometimes. I had to stop several times to work out who was which brother.
I loved the ending.
