I first fell in love with Jodi's snarkiness with her That Old Black Magic series. It's full of magic (obviously) along with shifters, witches and more. Since then I've been treated to more shifters in Cat Scratch Fever, futuristic mayhem in the Midnight Justice series and even a couple of contemporaries thrown into the mix. Granted, that's quite a variety. A few things that you can count on when you pick up a Jodi Redford book though is that there will be heat... (lots and lots of smexy heat) and characters that you have no choice but to fall in love with. Not surprisingly, Lover Enraptured was no exception.
Readers were introduced to Avily and Jerrick in Lover Enslaved. We knew then that there was a connection between the characters but in Lover Enraptured we found out exactly how strong it was. Jerrick was determined to protect Avily at all costs from everything, including himself and the danger that surrounded him. Avily was just as determined to prove to Jerrick that they were destined to be together. He didn't think he was good enough for her and she was determined to prove him wrong. That combination kept things interesting to say the least. Throw into the mix a jealous ex-girlfriend, a geeky unwanted side-kick, a fair amount of heartbreak, some really, really bad guys and a few other questionable characters and you have no choice but to keep turning pages to see what will happen next. And, trust me, a lot happens.
Basically, Lover Enraptured had everything I've grown to expect (not to mention look forward to) in a Jodi Redford novel and more. There were even a few twists and turns and more than one moment where a character totally surprised me. I love it when that happens. As usual though, pay close attention to the warning. It's not there just to make you blush and giggle... well, yeah, knowing Jodi it probably is there to make you blush and giggle, but it's also a legitimate warning. Snarkiness is rampant, the characters are lovable and there's plenty of unabashed smexiness to go around. Enjoy!
Oh, hell no. If anyone's going to be wearing next to nothing, it's going to be Jerrick...as "her" bitch.
Five years ago, Jerrick realized the lonely kid he'd taken under his wing had grown into a tempting, desirable woman-and he'd cut her loose. If gaining her help now means hitting his knees with a leash and a collar, so be it.
But soon their front escalates into an all-too-real erotic game where the prize is the one thing that tantalizes him beyond reason. Their hearts aren't the only thing they'll lose if they fail. It could mean the end of everything-and everyone-they know and love.
Warning: This book contains male groveling, the occasional blindfold and feather tickler, wicked sex magic, and a fae thief who isn't afraid to wear ass-less chaps when the job calls for it.
Jodi delivers another winner!
This story is so fun and sexy! and it is all Jodi's fault...lol No, really, her world building is first rate and you really get into not jut the characters but the world they live in. I think everyone is figuring out I am a sucker for fun and snarky dialog and that is one of the reasons I love this book and Jodi's other works.
This story kind of reminds me of the old show Remington Steele, well a much sexier, BDSM version...LOL If you kind of get what I mean, Jerrick is the thief who though has issues, has a heart of gold and a soft spot. Avily, is the spunky, smart and sexy partner. This a great adventure/mystery that has Jerrick trying to still information/formula to save the girl. A great twist in the story is when they must infiltrate a BDSM club and Avi only agrees to help if she gets to be the Domme and Jerrick the sub, those are some sexy scenes and fun to see Jerrick being the sub in his ass-less chaps
This book book should appeal to a wide range of people because it has a little bit of something for everyone. Now, it is book two in the series, but it can be read as a stand alone. Cannot forget the cover, it is hot!
One last thing, where do we sign up for the magically woven condoms??? ;)
Where to start? Ahhh, yes. We met both Avily and Jerrick in book 1 where their history was hinted at but not laid out in all its bittersweet glory. Holy smokes! Those two have a lot of heartache behind them. Between Avi's sister's lying and general awfulness and the complete terror Jerrick felt at the possibility of tainting Avi's life when she offered herself to him, these two have a lot to work out. Good thing that fate threw them together into a situation that called for minimal clothing and large amounts of public touching. I mean, it would have taken AGES for them to get around to having almost-sex in a room full of people otherwise. AGES.
I loved how Jerrick had to suck it up and play the submissive when his gut instinct was to step in and take charge. Especially where Avi was concerned. I loved that Avi was bound and determined to order him around and that she applied herself to the task of learning how to do it convincingly. Their training sessions were downright smokin'. Their 'acting' when they were in character cracked me up. I just had oodles of fun watching those two try to keep their cool when the other was driving them mad with want.
Shenanigans, sexy times, and leather pants. Jodi Redford knows how to treat her characters right!
