It make you wish you had net finished it. No spoiler alerts here. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good read.
When Jennifer and Stuart meet, they are both in their thirties and ready to settle down and raise a family, however they both have quite different ideas and feelings about exactly how this will be. Stuart from the beginning has some controlling tendencies but Jennifer is attracted to him due to his ability to provide for her and their mutual desire for a family. She is able to stay home with the children and this gives her great joy until she realizes slowly how unhappy she truly is. Their lives quickly unravel after 3 children are born and a man from Jennifer's past re-emerges. Neither Stuart nor Jennifer are without blame here. Their marriage surely fails, but the reasons are complex.
I will most likely not be reading this book again, and the topic generally does not entertain me. However, glimpsing the fictitious reality of this relationship did give me a better understanding of why women stay in controlling relationships/marriages and sometimes do not know the extent of their husbands' control over them, until it is too late, ending in tragedy.
