4 stars for the original, 1994 version. U.K. psychotherapist and astrologer Marjorie Orr's _Lover's Guide_ is a wry, insightful reference that manages to be both fun and comprehensive. (Readers who like their relationship astrology with a side-order of dry, Scottish wit will be especially pleased.) A long-time fan of this book, I purchased the first edition in paperback back in 1994 and continue to recommend it -- and *not* the revised, second edition published in the U.K. in 2009/2010 and recently made available in the U.S. -- as a solid reference.

For example, she peppers the book with real-life examples of famous figures born with certain Sun-Moon combinations and prominent couples with certain cross-aspects -- both couples who have made their relationships work and those who sadly haven’t -- in order to support and illustrate her theories and conclusions.

(Indeed, IMHO Orr’s book's only major flaw is that these real-life examples do so much to bolster her argument in the many places in which she *does* include them that her *inconsistent* inclusion of them in profiles throughout the book -- e.g.
