Wow! I actually had to go back and double check to make sure this was, in fact, a debut novel. Sure enough it is. Stacy L. Darnell puts together an overall GREAT story here!
I went in to this story blindly - not remembering how I stumbled across it when I saw it on my Kindle. I loved the cover a lot and the title and the tag line left me intrigued... I wanted to know what the torment would be. I didn't even want to read the synopsis, I just wanted to go in, and I'm so glad I did and so glad I took a chance on this debut novel!
The beginning was a little slow of a start for me, and I couldn't help but start to think mayyyyyybe it was all just going to be super lovey dovey and I wouldn't get the "torment". Lovey dovey, dripping with sweetness, is usually not my style, Lord knows I love me some angst and torture, but I was intrigued enough to continue on, as with a title like this there just had to be something coming...
As the story developed further - BAM! There it comes! The torment just slapped me in the face over... and over... and over... and OMG OVER! There were twists and turns I just did NOT even see coming, especially after such a sweet start, but I am NOT complaining as those twists kept me glued to my Kindle. I couldn't put it down! I read it through in a single sitting - not even being willing to put it down when I went to get a drink or use the restroom. Just when I thought things were starting to smooth out and we'd be back to the swooning there'd be another surprise around the corner that left me going "WTF?? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?! WHATTTT???"
I loved that we got three differing points of view in this story as well.Read more ›
When I woke up the morning after finishing this book, I wanted to read so much more! You can tell the good stories from the great ones, by how much you think about the characters after the story ends. Let me tell you, this was a great one!
Thank you, Mrs. Stacey Darnell, for weaving such a mesmerizing story! Do yourself a big favor, get lost in this book! You will be glad you did!
I have to say I really enjoyed this book. It was written very well. The characters were wonderful. I felt for all of them.
It is a story of first loves, true loves and everything in between. How one person can be torn in two. How much sorrow can one person handle? How long does one need to heal? While reading this story you watch Sam (Samone) , Alec and Emmett go through any things and how it ends. What each one of these charters have lost. And how they grow from all the things fate throws at them.
There wasn't to much not to like about this book the only thing I can say is I felt at time the story would drag a little. But that is it. I would recommend this book to anyone.
This book left me with many emotions. I almost finished it in one night, but I had to put it down because I was sobbing so hard I could barely breathe. The emotional mess it left me in was almost unbearable. There were times where I was able to smile and laugh, but the torment Sam, Alex, and Emmett live through is just heartbreaking. The only reason I give this a little ding is because of the development. Alec and Sam's relationship happens so fast that I never really got to get settled in their relationship. Maybe that was the point though. Maybe it was supposed to be a whirlwind romance. Either way that is my little ding, but besides that, this is a must read. Well, it is if you can handle the emotional train wreck it takes the reader on. Although it is emotionally draining, all is worth it in the end. It is like life-ups and downs-but it is what you learn from it that makes you stronger. So, grab some tissues and get ready to read!
I was given this book by the author through the New Adult Book club on Goodreads.
