Harry Carter's first-person account of a most interesting Naval career, both in the air and on the sea is a truly enjoyable read. It will help you realize why our Navy is so good at what it does- protecting our ideals as Americans. Everyone should read this book to better understand what it's like to have the job of preserving our freedoms, in action as well as in the diplomatic corps.

The Life and Loves of a United States Naval Aviator is a great book. Very fine and colorful description of Naval flight training in the 1940's. He has a fantastic memory of events 40's through 70's. Many references to historic events.

An amazingly detailed rememberance from one of The Greatest Generation, with whom my father flew in 1944-45. A folksy blend of personal relationships and wartime experiences that reinforces all that our military does for us....well done.

This is a well-written, colorful, autobiography of Captain Harry Carter, a U.S. naval aviator, captain, and commodore of various U.S. Navy ships. The accounts of travels in many countries around the world provide insight into the life of our military officers who, with their families, sacrifice so much for the protection of our homeland. Highly recommended for all who are interested in the navy and the life of a naval officer. This book would make a great movie!

Harry, I am amazed at your remarkable memory for detail. This was a great read, thanks for writing it. I spent a little over seven years in the Air Force and I can hardly recall a name of anyone I served with besides my husband of course.
