It started off good. I mean, I liked the unrequited element that's just suggested in the blurb, which is why I one-clicked in the first place. But then Jen happened. Jen is the heroine and she's a runner.
The heroine, Jen, is a runner. She runs all the time. Date not going well? She runs. Saw something she didn't like? She runs. Heard something she didn't like? She runs. No matter what the situation was, Jen just solves her problem by running. She kept running throughout the whole book.
It got old after a while. And you know when the heroine does this, you know you're in for a lot of unnecessary angst that adds nothing to the story except to annoy the heck out of you.
The hero was a wuss. I didn't like him either. The whole twist was just ludicrous.
Unfortunately, that's not even the biggest problem of this book for me. The author's writing style totally didn't work for me. Both Jen and Raylan's POV sounded awfully the same, I had to constantly check the beginning of the chapter to know whose POV it was I'm reading. Not only that, this book was just riddled with errors, continuity problems, grammar and spelling mistakes (grown instead of groan), etc.
I mean, A thorough run-through with a decent proofreader wouldn't hurt.
It is an easy read, has some hot scenes and as I shared a great hero but I am glad it was a free download. The ending is sweet although a bit over the top for me. So, 3 stars....although if I could give 2.5 I would.
Jen and Rylan encounter each other on a business reunion, from the moment Rylan sees Jen he thinks she is a beautiful woman and since the moment Jen sees Rylan she thinks he is a cute man but a little bit silly. The contrast point of the story begins when Jem goes out on a date with a man who works for Rylan, Jack, they get to meet each other on a date, but Jack just want a bed partner, that destroys Jen's feelings, so there is how Rylan comes into the story.
There were some turns, I did not expected the author would make happen, for example the so new friendship with Jack, after what happened, the so rapid fall in love of Rylan with Jen, and her sudden disappearance from everybody lives, ever her best friend.
This is a fast reading story, recommended for those who like romantic kind of dramatic stories too with a not twisted argument.
Jen was an over emotional wreck. I couldn't stand all of her crying and dramatic running away when things got rough.
I really liked Rylan. He was sweet, sensitive and so caring. He mourned the death of his wife whom was the love of his life.
I hated that Jen slept with one of Rylans employees then became friends with the arrogant jerk. And Rylan seemed okay with it.Just too weird for me.
I'm giving this book 3 stars instead of 2 because the epilogue was great and had a HEA.
