by Ann Gimpel
I am always excited to read Ann Gimpel books. As I have said on numerous occasions she has a golden pen. GOODNESS GRACIOUS! I enjoyed reading this book so much I had to read books 1-3 again. Ann Gimpel books contain words that will entertain her readers and weave happiness into your spirit. This book has exceeded what I expect of it. It's Fantastic Read! I really enjoyed reading this story and I didn't want it to ended. Now I know everyone may not feel this way, but if you enjoy Military romance stories with great characters then you will enjoy this story. I got so caught up in the story that the time flew by so fast I hadn't realized. This story is about Hope and Charlie and their powerful attraction, its a very amazing read. This story is very engaging. There's edge of your seat action, life and death situations. Each of the books in this series can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading them all in order. Each story builds on each other. Ann Gimpel books will not disappoint. I love reading this awe-inspiring tale of a men and women that spans and impacts the lives of these special couples. The development of her characters are awesome and they will keep you reading. This is geat addition to the series, I couldn’t putting it down. I am use to falling in love with Ann's books but I really all of the characters in this series. The words flow at a perfect pace and it's well written. I like that Ann books have all types of beautiful, strong and witty women and that they have lots of confidence. The dialogue is creative, you will love the chemistry between the main characters, they burn the the pages with their passion. The scenes are vivid, beautiful and dynamic. The suspense in story was quite good, some twist and turns, it kept me guessing and intrigued. Hope is genetically modified, they refers to their kind as freaks. But Hope has been attracted to Charlie for a long time, but he acts as if he’s not even aware of her existence except as a fellow agent working Black Ops for the CIA under his command. Charlie has been divorce and he is swore off women. His love is with the adrenaline rush when he signed on as a Navy Seal. There's nothing better than two characters who have such intense chemistry.
Seven years ago, a rogue group turned on their creators, blew up the lab, and then starting hitting up all the other breeding farms, freeing whomever they could find. In the intervening time, they all retreated to other hidden compounds and created a society run by men. Women were kept on a tight leash because these men feared that if the women discovered their innate powers, they'd launch their own rebellion. Which they did!
This is the story of Hope and Charlie. Both of them are determined, dedicated, and intelligent people who must learn to trust each other. They are sent on a mission to retrieve the Cortexiphan and this is the start of a roller coaster ride between these two characters. This is a must read story and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and this review is my own opinion.
This story is packed with action, danger, and suspense as this group of agents put their lives on the line to bring the war they are currently fighting to an end. In the meantime while this is going on we see what everyone stands to gain or lose at any given moment. I voluntarily read this ARC and would most definitely be first in line to recommend this read for those who enjoy a well written story.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The author did a great job of continuing the story but also recapping the first three books for new readers. The characters, new and old, are well defined and dimensional. The women and the men rescued from the compounds as well as those from the CIA teams are trying to work together. But old habits and prejudices still are difficult to overcome. As usual, the storyline will keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. It definitely kept me riveted and reading.
