Oh, how I do love those Kennedy boys! And despite Kyler Kennedy's permanent hold on my quivering, love-struck heart, I couldn’t have been more excited to finally get my hands on Kalvin and Lana’s story!!
While intrinsically different from the first 3 books in this series, author Siobhan Davis does not shy clear of the controversy that “Loving Kalvin” is likely to provoke. While I might take issue with certain aspects of this story, it has less to do with Lana’s false accusation and more to do with her ongoing lie of omission.
Right from the get go, Kalvin’s earnest desire to win back Lana’s heart left me hopelessly swooning. Between his charming personality and his sweet overtures, Kalvin quickly won me over. Still, I could totally understand why Lana and others questioned Kalvin’s resolve to forgive and forget Lana’s most grievous of sins. There aren’t many who could be quite so charitable. His genuine desire to move beyond their past mistakes left me falling hard for the “new and improved” Kalvin Kennedy.
My biggest issue with Lana is not the slanderous lie itself, but how easily she allowed herself to be manipulated by others. First, it was Addison; then, her parents and grandparents. She allowed them the power to dictate her actions, especially moving forward. Piece by piece, Lana lost a huge part of who she was with every bend to their will. Sure, there were times when Lana did rise to the occasion--as showcased by her “grand gesture” moments--but it always felt a bit too little and always a bit too late. Additionally, Lana's constant use of her own personal weakness as an excuse to continually push Kalvin away, just served to annoy me further.
Still, I couldn’t help but feel some sympathy for the girl whose heart was shattered by the boy she trusted to keep it safe. Kalvin was not an innocent; he deserved nothing short of groveling at Lana’s feet, begging for forgiveness. But when Lana betrays Kalvin’s trust--yet again--it could mean losing the love of her life for good. So... this begs the question... just how forgiving will Kalvin be the second time around? Will Lana and Kalvin be able to piece back together all that has been shattered? Or will "HEA" forever elude this couple’s grasp?
As for Chase and Shelby… what can I say? I guess every love story needs its villains. And Chase and Shelby wear that title proud. Motivated by greed and a thirst for revenge, their actions are beyond reprehensible. But thankfully, when it comes to romance novels, good is victorious in the face of evil nearly every time.
“Loving Kalvin” is yet another great addition to the Kennedy Boys series. But now, I’m left to wonder… what does the future hold for the lonely and despondent Brad? I can only venture to guess as where his journey will lead readers next. I can hardly wait to discover his story, along with those for the rest of the dysfunctional Kennedy clan.

― Siobhan Davis, Loving Kalvin
This is such a beautiful romance. Yes there is drama and there is angst, but in my opinion that just made the romance that much more romantic. And lordy, can Siobhan Davis write some beautiful romance!! She also wrote some great hot and heavy scenes too!
Kalvin and Lana are soulmates.
Definition of Soulmate in the Urban Dictionary:
A person with whom you have an immediate connection the moment you meet -- a connection so strong that you are drawn to them in a way you have never experienced before. As this connection develops over time, you experience a love so deep, strong and complex, that you begin to doubt that you have ever truly loved anyone prior. Your soulmate understands and connects with you in every way and on every level, which brings a sense of peace, calmness and happiness when you are around them. And when you are not around them, you are all that much more aware of the harshness of life, and how bonding with another person in this way is the most significant and satisfying thing you will experience in your lifetime. You are also all that much aware of the beauty in life, because you have been given a great gift and will always be thankful.
This is what Kalvin and Lana have had since they were children and it grew stronger as they got older, until Kalvin's mother put a stop to them seeing each other. But that connection was still there, even when they tried to fight it. They hurt each other many times. It was just about killing them. Now in Loving Kalvin they are in college. Actually Lana went to University of Florida and Kalvin went there, thinking that's where she went, and he wanted to find her and win back her love. He knew they belonged together and was willing to try whatever it took to get her back.
Lana feels she's undeserving of Kalvin's love. She's made some pretty horrible mistakes and hurt Kalvin very badly. Even though he says he forgives her, she just cannot forgive herself. It doesn't help that she still isn't being totally honest with him and is holding back important information from him. The guilt is eating her up and making her feel unworthy of his love.
The whole story is so heartwarming and the lesson of forgiveness is a big one. I loved this book so much! Every single page!! We even got some glimpses of my favorite Kennedy, Kyler, and Faye, and the family! Yay!! I totally recommend this book, in fact I recommend that you NOT MISS IT!!!
