Use it with a tank for a turtle. Change the carbon once a month and the 52 pound bag lasts about 2 years. Much better value and easier than looking for over priced carbon every few months. The carbon is of good but not great quality. I like that these are extruded pellets but they probably have less surface area than the more granular carbon. The up side of the extruded pellets is that they are quicker to rinse before starting the filter.

If your scratching your head saying how can 52 POUNDS really be this cheap? Your correct, it's the absolute cheapest carbon per pound you can buy almost anywhere. I use this is my cichlid, pond, other various freshwater only. It works good, not great. But seriously does the job for a cheap price. I refuse to use it in my reef but to each there own. Rinse good first!

This looks exactly the same as any pelleted Carbon marketed as activated carbon I have ever seen - it's the same product! Just like those other pelleted products, plenty of dust washes out when I rinse. Though the description says pre-washed, this does not surprise nor alarm me. I would expect shipping across the country to generate some dust from the pellets grinding against each other due to road vibrations and handling.

This product is falsely advertised, it is not pre washed to start. I’d understand a little dust but when I hooked this up to a exhaust fan I couldnt believe how much debris came out of the outlet. It looked like a fire. It left black dust coating all over the ducting and the filter I bought was shot. After washing this stuff heavily it works for what it is. But this is a rip off if you take it as it’s advertised but still an okay price for carbon
