First, the writing and telling of the story was far to basic and elementary for my liking. I like details, that's what brings a story and the characters together. There was too much flippity flopping of the main H/h characters that it left me scratching my head in confusion when they finally ended up in bed together. I just didn't get it.
Second, we have this Senator Alex Conrad, this "Hot, Sexy" man, who completely decimated his character by acting like a HUGE WEENIE 99.9% of the time. This Man is in a huge position of power, both career wise and public figure wise, he supposed to be charismatic, magnetic, bold, and all Alpha. Yet, he comes across as a weenie who has his balls trapped in a pink tutu. Major turn off for me. He also says "My God" waaaaaaay to much. His character was so poorly written, it ruined his Powerful Senator Sexy image for me.
Prudence Prudence Prudence, she was annoying as all get out. No back bone.......real doormat kind of character who keeps embarrassing herself over Senator Conrad. Not even 2% into the book and she's already throwing herself at him like a bitch in heat. I was like whaaaaaaaat????? Then the Senator finally asks her out on a date, right after ignoring her for months mind you, she agrees and no sooner does he show up to pick her up for date night, she's already trying to jump him, and he just keeps turning her down. Yeah, Prudence was very pushy and bossy and alpha about the sex, but doormat in every other aspect of her character. Sooooo ANNOYING!!!!!
Like I said, too much flippity flop from one extreme to another, and NO details in between. Basic, not well written.
Alex and Prudence are a hard couple to love. Prudence’s bland and odd personality is passable in comparison to Alex’s glaring shortcomings. The Senator, instead of exuding power, command and raw sexuality, as you might expect and hope for in a fantasized politician, reveals himself to be a weak, conflicted and cowardly man. His likability does moderately increase as the story progresses. However it still isn't enough to forgive or forget his previous missteps. Ultimately, neither Alex nor Prudence are genuinely sensual enough to entice nor appealing enough to fully invest in.
And the sex… The sex is tepid at best. Dogged by poor word choices and phrasing, the racier passages are littered with cringe-inducing and often dated dialog and descriptions that never failed to throw me from the scene.

I do love a DC story.
I don't like leaving bad reviews. Really I don't. When I picked up this book I was hoping for a great romance with a slightly taboo feel to it. Read morePublished 14 months ago by Sherri Hayes
