Seems like I was very used to toxic people in my life. I don't think my parents are evil people, they are great people, but not sure if their relationship was functional which left me disfunctional and probably my teenage son as well. I knew I deserved more and better people in my life, I had always felt that I was a bi-product of how other people treated me (selfish toxic people). But I also took a lot of blame wondering how I could change this in my life. Also a lot of shame in thinking that I was responsible somehow.
I think Sherrie's book and her Facebook posts just give me an extra bit of self esteem boost every day. She helps me see why I was putting up with toxic people, what I need to do now in order not to get trapped in that again. What to do in order to be happy...it's not that hard to obtain.
I was on the road to recovery before Sherrie's wisdom came into my life but I feel she is the final push to get me out of the quicksand that was pulling me down.
Thanks you Sherrie!
Dr. Campbell shows through her own personal story the importance of forgiveness and boundaries, the ability to forgive others but more importantly forgiving ourselves. While it is up to all of us to be in charge of our own personal development, it's always wonderful to find and explore such a valuable tool as the lessons in this book to help you on your journey.
This book was just as good if not better the second around, and is a great resource for anyone interested in beginning or continuing one of the most important journeys of our lives.
