Low and Behold
Official Selection 2007 Sundance Film Film Festival. Based on real events, LOW AND BEHOLD tells the story of Turner Stull (Barlow Jacobs), a young insurance claims adjuster in post-Katrina New Orleans who risks his job to help a local man, Nixon (Eddie Rouse), find his lost dog. As this unlikely pair traverses the city, Turner comes to discover that some damage is immeasurable. Filmed on location in New Orleans only months after Hurricane Katrina, LOW AND BEHOLD blurs the line between reality and fiction, creating a mosaic of images, faces, and voices that together make for a unique cinematic experience. Co-starring Robert Longstreet. "A film that must be seen by anyone and everyone." - Film Threat "A fantastic new work of cinema." - Huffington Post

While watching, I predicted the end, and even though i knew it was coming, it was absolutely heart-wrenching to witness. It is as if the film itself, mimicking a hurricane, has a slow pace and build up, coupled with a sudden devastation, and lingers in that devastation.
I was deeply touched by this film, and my heart goes out to its creators. Every 'film' about New Orleans, South Louisiana, or the Storm plays to certain tropes and archetypes, but this film seems to genuinely treat its subject matter like a person, humanely, if you will, and emphasizes the need for attention and care to those most devastated by this horrendous event.
Thank you for making this film.
