Well that was a bad decision obviously. And I'm back to lowa again. This is my first time I'm buying Mountain expert gtx. They are quite comfortable. They are NOT heavy for me. I know that they are gonna last at least a year. Just to give you an idea about how sturdy lowa products are; I'm not a mountaineering person. Actually I'm a scuba diver. I'm 6ft4 and 250 lb. I wear boots 12 month straight. I will never buy asolo again.
I have summitted nine mountains over 14k feet in winter conditions here in Colorado while using these boots. They are warm, and despite what some people do say about them....they ARE waterproof. Just last weekend we were approaching the mountain and I sunk through a few feet of snow, right into a stream. I pulled my leg out, and my foot was bone dry. The water never got through even though the entire boot was submerged. Those who complain these are not waterproof are simply not lacing them up correctly. They are a narrow boot, when compared to other winter mountaineering boots. I like this, it makes you a little more maneuverable on technical rock and ice. They are heavy, however, but it's for a reason; these boots are insulated.
I have used microspikes as well as crampons with these boots too, they all fit/work.
