This is my fourth or fifth pair, and they continue to fit well, be comfortable.
The shoes fit well right from the get go and are very comfortable to wear.
Have owned another previously and this is hands down the best made, longest lasting, most comfortable shoe of it's type.

This pair of shoes was received very promptly after I ordered them. They're my favorite pair of shoes and are very comfortable, with good traction, for when I go hiking in conservation areas, walking in parks or am just out and about around town. One reason why I bought them is that they are handmade in Slovakia for a German company with a good reputation. With all of the attention that is now being given to matters of social justice by the protesters and others, I thought it would be more responsible to buy shoes made in the free world than in a country where workers are virtual slaves. I bought a pair of New Balance shoes that are made in the USA for the same reason, but these are much higher quality than the New Balance shoes and for a competitive price.

I wore out the shoe liner behind the heel tendon and put a hole in the inner sole under the heel but the shoe still looks pretty good. All the seems and rubbers are all still solidly attached. The stitching that fastens the dark leather around the toes to the shoe body on the outside of both shoes, just above the sole, deteriorated for about 3/4", so I can almost wedge my pinky in between the leathers. The tread under the ball of my foot wore to 1/8". I wear them for everyday use. I've owned them for 16 months. The shoes feel natural, I never felt any protrusions, stitching anomalies. I weigh 200 lbs and hike rocky trails and never encountered a rock this shoe couldn't protect my tender feet. As long as the water didn't go over the shoe, my feet stayed dry. Feet never got sweaty or stinky. Best, longest lasting pair of shoes I've owned.

Now days it is hard to trust the quality of a product you can only see from a picture. The magnifying feature amazon has to view pictures of merchandise let me take a closer look at this shoe. What you see is what you get with this shoe; the stitching is as good as in the picture. The whole shoe is made extremely well. Very light weight and very comfortable I hardly feel them on my feet. I read a review about how I should worry about sizing, the review said they ran smaller, I purchased a size 8 M and it was right on so I had no sizing issues. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I bought a pair of these in 2000, before I left for a 9 month trip meandering from Argentina all the way back up to Los Angeles, mostly traveling by bus. Aside from a pair of sandals, these were what I used for the whole trip. From the Inca Trail in Peru, to the high deserts of the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, and the Amazon jungle in Ecuador, these were solid and comfortable on any terrain. Since, then, I buy exactly this same shoe every time my current pair wears out. I will say that I like to replace the insoles with one from Superfeet, but then I do that with pretty much all my shoes.

These shoes are always well constructed, comfortable, and durable.

I just ordered my third pair of these... I love them! I've had my current (second) pair of these for about three years. These Lowas are my favorite shoes and I wear them at least 3 or 4 days a week, yet they're only just starting to show signs of significant wear (mostly around the heal cup as I have a bad habit of pulling them off with the laces still done up). I owned my previous (first) pair for over 5 years... hiked all over both the US and Europe with them... and, with only about half the sole worn off, finally had to give up on them when my dog chewed out one of the lace grommets. These are super durable, comfortable, and versatile... I'd give them six stars if I could.

I just received these and they fit just like they always have. This is my fourth or fifth pair, and they continue to fit well, be comfortable. I use these as my casual weekend shoes which fall somewhere between tennis shoes and hiking boots. Previous pairs have worn well, although the last pair got a tear in the leather right at the rand - I'm assuming that was an anomoly.

The Lowa Tempest is a well made shoe, but it's not quite as comfortable as the older version. And I kind of preferred the light/tan version. For starters, these shoes are built differently. There are four shoelace eyeholes (versus six) in the newer version, and it just fits more stiffly. Even though these are durable hiking shoes, the older version seemed more receptive to my feet, if that's possible. The tongue, insole and vibram soles are slightly different on this updated version as well. For some reason, you have to really tie the shoelaces tightly, give them an extra strong cinch, or they seem to keep coming loose. I probably just need to wear these a lot more to get used to them, but kind of miss the comfort of the older model.

When I was looking for a hiking shoe, I was looking for something that was comfortable, easy to put on and take off and was a good quality. I was reading reviews of the Lowa shoe on the internet because I feel that people who own the product would give me an unbiased opinion. I was skeptical at first of buying a shoe over the internet because I felt shoes were something that needed to fit your feet perfectly and it was a gamble to buy something I have never tried on. After looking at the shoe closeup and reading the reviews, I decided to go for it. a considerable amount of the reviews advised on getting this shoe a half size larger so that's what I did. WOW! I hit the jackpot on this one. These shoes fit perfectly and the quality is something that you just don't see anymore. One of the reasons I selected this shoe is the eyelets are not folded over cloth, but real eyelets. The shoe fit perfectly out of the box and fits like a pair of slippers. Quite frankly I have never heard of Lowa before I purchased these but this is only my first pair. Not only are these shoes nice looking but I can tell they will last a long time.
