My 2.5 year old has already learned his uppercase letters using a puzzle and has really taken to this lowercase letter puzzle. This puzzle is a great hands-on activity for children who can't yet write their letters, but can become familiar with what the lowercase letters are supposed to look like. It's also great for being able to recognize the difference between the "b" and "d" letters, which are commonly mistaken.

The puzzle is made of textured rubber, which makes it easy for little hands to get a feel for the letters. The puzzle itself is thin and easily bendable. It measures 1'x1' square. It comes with a plastic container that the puzzle sits in and alphabetized illustrations on cardstock.

I only give it 4 stars because there are several small circle parts, which go inside several of the letters. For example, the middle of the "a" has a small circle hole that can be taken out. These little pieces are the same color as the background and can be removed with the letter. I removed these little extra pieces so they wouldn't be lost (or eaten), since they're not really part of the letter itself. The middle of the "e" especially, is a small sliver and is too small for a small child to be playing with. The puzzle I received has the reverse of the colors than the one pictured. It has a blue background with yellow letters. (See added pictures above)

This is a wonderful tool for little learners to learn their letters!

The only thing I didn't like about this puzzle was the sheet of pictures and those were easy to throw away (the picture for "u" is umbrella which my daughter associated with "j" because of the handle. Similarly, the picture of the partially unzipped zipper looks like a "y". I made the same mistake before getting this when I told my daughter that "l" looks like a "lollipop" and now she always thinks of the letter "i" which I'd have to admit looks even more like a lollipop.)

Aside from that, the font is well done (complicated or overly childish fonts are unhelpful) and the puzzle is extremely pleasing to handle with its texture and snug fit. We get a lot of use out of this.

This is the second of these I have bought because I love them so much. I had the first one for a few years and then the plastic backing broke while in storage. It didn't break due to a bad design, plastic just can't withstand being bent with a huge amount of force. My daughters have LOVED this puzzle and the company will send you replacement letters when you lose them for FREE! No shipping cost or anything. Who does that?! Awesome product.

Here's my problem with this puzzle....The middle of some of the letters come out, like the circles in the a,e,g,o,p,q. This frustrated my 3 year old. I was thinking that they were solid letters. As soon as I saw it I knew they were going to end up in someone's mouth. I was right! I bought this to entertain her while doing school with the older kids, so I'm pretty bummed that I spent money on this. I got a capital letter puzzle similar to this at Dollar Tree and I prefer that one.

There are so many puzzles for upper case letters that I was delighted to find this lower case letter puzzle. I have a couple other rubber puzzles from this company that my 3 year old boy loves. I like that it is made in the USA as well. I do not like how the centers of the a, b, d, e, g, o, p, q are a separate pieces, especially the center of e! They are very tiny and can make it difficult to find so I suggest doing this puzzle in the top of a office paper box.

This is a good quality crepe rubber puzzle with the lower case letters. The sheet of pictures underneath lines up fairly well but not one hundred percent and some of the pictures underneath may seem like strange choices for the letter since they had to fit the shape of the letter as well as start with the letter.

I can't say enough good things about these letter puzzles. This is the second set I have purchased (not because there was something wrong with the first but my kids lost a few of the pieces). My upcoming kindergartener is a very tactile hands on learner and these have a nice texture to them. I have also purchased the Capitol letter puzzles.

A to Z Lower Case Crepe Rubber Puzzle arrived sooner than expected. Yeah!!! I am using them with a child who is dyslexic. The texture on the letters helps to recognize the letters for reading and spelling. They would be excellent for any child who is dyslexic or has learning disabilities.
