This thing is a great sonar and the GPS is top notch. Saving waypoints is a breeze, as well as navigation. The sonar works as well as my HD gen 2 at finding fish and includes some really great features like fish ID that makes using it simple for everyone. I did not get the DSI version but I have it on my bigger unit and I promise you will not be disappointed if you elect to go that way.
I have recommend this to my friends and I will again.

Fish finder has worked very well for both fishing and travel.
The Elite 4 does everything I need for coastal and inland lakes sailing. The package is well designed with easy- to-see, sunlight-readable display, simple controls and menus and a nice 30 page manual with a useful index. After an hour with the book on our patio I feel confident I will be able to operate it afloat even if the book were left home..
My unit came with the new Navionics+ micro SD map chip covering entire US coast, US and Canadian Great Lakes and has a year's free download of other inland lakes. Way better detail than my 2007 Raymarine chartplotter had with its earlier Navionics Gold charts.
The buzzer for navigation alarms should be a lot louder. At home I have a 130 db alarm clock!
When I checked the power consumption with an ammeter it was only drawing 0.18 amps from my 12 Volt battery so I do not have to worry about a flat battery as I did with the bigger Raymarine.
The Lowrance also uses the European satellite constellation in addition to the original US GPS. This is a stationary satellite system and it backs up and augments the US data.

Works great the GPS is accurate and has a lot of my local markers in it already. Finds the fish and shows me the bottom. Extremely easy to see even in the bright Florida sun. Read morePublished 19 months ago by Amazon Customer
