Ok, I admit it I am cheap. If I can score a free book, I will. But giving some one 1/3 of the book and telling them by not saying "Cliffhanger" or part of a serial( which is different from series); is in my opinion....WRONG. This is one-third of a two more parts book that cost 2.99. Which if it catches my attention not a price I would not mind paying. The waiting for the rest of the book to be published and having to pay for the rest of what you were told was a free book, is wrong. One point I want to make is that if I have to wait too long I will either forget about the book or not remember the storyline. Anyway this is just my opinion and everyone can take that and do what they want with it .Sorry but I will not be purchasing the "FREE" book. Sincerely, Susan Qualls

Holy WOW, with the amount of twists and turns in this book I think I may have suffered whiplash!!! Absolutely freaking AMAZING.
I don’t think ‘it’s complicated’ really covers the relationship in this book. Ana and Jackson are definitely an intriguing couple, hiding their relationship even though it sucks, seems to make it seem really romantic at times. Climbing in through windows was a great idea.
It has been written in such a way that you can feel what Ana feels which a big thumbs up for this talented author is. She has captured the whole essence of all her characters and you even fall in love with the secondary characters. Everyone needs an Elena in their lives.
Another amazing book from LA Cotton and I really can’t wait to find out what comes next for Ana and Jackson, but trust me the cliff-hanger is a brilliant one!! I can’t wait for the second part of this (seriously end of seat stuff).

Lots of secrets and lies that's for sure.
The book reminds me of Fallen Crest High, a series by Tijan. It's one of my favorites so this one is falling a little short to that. This is a new adult / college age book with lots of parties, drinking, drugs and a rivalry between two towns. All of that makes sense and is very realistic. Where it starts to get a little unrealistic for me is the town has a family that controls It. Somewhat of a mafia type thing. The families son is in college and he seems to have control of the whole campus and everyone bows to him. Of course he is a complete jerk and quarterback of the football team.
I won't get into specifics on how this affects the two main characters Ana and Jackson but it plays a huge roll in there relationship. A little to over the top for me but I will continue to read the series and see how it all plays out and hope it gets a little better.
Lots of drama, angst and sexual chemistry. There are sex scenes but more on the mild side compared to a lot of books I read. There is also swearing for those that want to know.

Over the top NA story of college student Ana who has a tragic past and tries to make a new start at a college 3000 miles away from her former home.

What she doesn't realize is that her new college is dominated by the football team (and WHOLE campus loves them) with an unusual name "The Fallen" which is dominated by Braiden, who is more than just the BMOC, he's the town mafia's son. Braiden's right hand man/best friend/adopted brother is Jackson Pierce. Also well known. Sparks fly between them, but "he can't be with her in public" because Braiden needs to approve all women or something and he wants her instead. Because of course women are property.

West Side Story, Romeo and Juliet are hands down better executed than this book.

For a moment there, I thought there might be some sparkly vampires given all the pacific northwest references and trees and such.

The ending is most ridiculous. I wanted to mail Ana some paperwork on how to transfer the heck out of that school.

Loyalty and Lies is shrouded in mystery and secrets. Wanting a fresh start away from a painful past, Savannah (Ana) moves across the country to Oregon for college. Unbeknownst to her, she escaped right into a tangled nest of mystery and intrigue that would draw her in. She meets Jackson in a couple of her classes and they begin a sweet courtship of sorts. Yet it all falls apart when secrets begin unraveling. I won’t go into details. I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone but let me just say it was heartbreaking. Now before I go any further, I do want to mention it is a cliffhanger. But books one through three are out.

I enjoyed the book; I found it well-written with complex characters. Ana’s story is so completely heartbreaking and I found myself on the edge of my seat watching her heal and just praying that Jackson wouldn’t screw up. Then drama ensues and I just want to reach through my tablet and hug her. My heart also hurt for Jackson and the choices that he had to make. Now if you’re looking for super-hot sexy times, this isn’t the book for you. It’s more about the angst then smut. There are some sex scenes, but they aren’t super graphic. I appreciated that, I don’t think all NA books need to be about graphic sex.

The side characters add an interesting cast of characters to the book. I loved Elena, Ana’s roommate. She’s a hilarious Latina who tries her hardest to draw Ana out and back her up. Now I have what’ll be an unpopular opinion, I almost feel sorry for Briony. I think she’s been spoiled by her dad and brother all her life and it’s probably ruined her. I wonder if she got out from under their thumbs if she couldn’t be redeemed. Braiden, however, is nonredeemable. I wanted to smack the crap out of him but even through the pages I was scared of him.

Ugh, this book….it’s just ugh. It’s intense. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series to see what happens.
