Product Description

Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer is the number one heavy duty and high performance oil supplement in the US. It eliminates dry starts and resists thermal breakdown for total protection in new engines. It stops smoking, knocking, and oil consumption in worn engines. It raises oil pressure and adds lubricity for more miles per gallon (M.P.G.). In addition, it lowers oil temperatures and stops leaks. It also extends oil life by at least 50%. Use it in any manual transmission or differential to stop wear, leaks, heat, noise & hard shifting. Using Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer will not void new car warranties. Since it is pure petroleum, it safely blends with all petroleum products, even synthetics.

I will say,I wasn't convinced about this stuff but it had been mentioned to me many times in the past.My car was having major problems with knocking, and I'll say very loudly.I made an appointment to get the car repaired like any good car owner. My issue wasn't to mask the problem and keep driving,I wanted to get my car to the shop without it dying on me on the way.Enter lucas!I put this stuff in to help ease the noise and help me get to the shop. After I arrived, the car had quieted to the point of not even being annoying anymore.yes it still made noise, but nothing like it was.I got the car repaired and use lucas in a very light mix at oil change as the car is an '84 and can use the extra "help".The difference is very noticable with the lucas compared to without.Oil pressure is restored as well as the motor seems to idle smoother with this product.I wouldn't suggest using this as a cure all for major problems, only a wrench and parts can fix that, but it does seem to have benefitted my old '84 Buick as far as performance and smoothness.I've seen the website about foaming and all I will say is this stuff doesnt foam like bob the oil guru says. It's good stuff and can help you get to the shop if needed and restore a little pep to older engines.

...because the most obvious thing it does is increase the motor oil's viscosity, since this stuff is so viscous it borders on a gel. Some say it also adds lots of detergent to the oil. While heavier weight oil can work miracles on an old worn out engine, those with younger engines might consider using this stuff more sparingly than the label says, otherwise you're running your engine with oil that's WAY out of spec.

I tried Lucas because my mechanic recommended it after listening to the lifters ticking in my 1990 Caravan with 140,000 miles on the clock (2.5L SOHC engine). It's a common problem in old motors: hydraulic lifters gum up inside with varnish and sludge from old cooked oil, and then they don't work right no mo'. The customary remedy is popping the valve cover and replacing the lifters, but he said Lucas would fix the problem. So I did an oil change substituting a quart of Lucas Heavy Duty for motor oil, then watched and waited. Meanwhile I saw some skeptical reviews from rational knowledgeable people. After a few short trips around the neighborhood my lifters were still ticking, so I figured this stuff wasn't going to work. My optimism was dashed.

Then I drove for a few hours, including about an hour idling in a traffic jam. To my utter stupefied amazement, the ticking is now gone. This product must enhance the "additive package" in motor oil enough that it can finally dissolve old crud it normally can't. If I use an electronic stethoscope to listen to the valvetrain at the #1 cylinder position, I still hear a percussion (I still need to get in there and replace stuff), but the before & after improvement is simply amazing. Before I could hear the ticking from 20 feet away with the hood down! As a stopgap treatment for ticking lifters, Lucas really is "a miracle in a can." Well, in a bottle.

I swear by this stuff. My father is an auto mechanic, and he would tell me when I can skip doing the expensive beauty treatments for my car or where I need to spend a little more. Love this stuff, my car runs great and while other things break down, her engine hardly makes a peep.

I used this a few years ago in my 5spd transmission on my 03 Mach 1 mustang. When the transmission would warm up i would have a hard time shifting into 3rd gear even with Royal purple synthetic oil in the trans. After adding the lucas heavy duty stabilizer, shifting was smooth as when the car was new. It worked so well that i tried it in my old jeep wrangler with over 130k miles on the clock. The transmission was warn and was difficult to shift. After adding the lucas to it the transmission shifted like butter.
