I start this review with scripture not to offset those that rebuff the Holy Bible but to show in writing the core of this story.
Those that have read the bible have taken what they need from it, But have you ever really thought about it?
Poppet is an author that takes the truth and makes it known on a level that rocks the soul. This book is no exception. It is truth on her level! I appreciate that she allows us the glory of her light.
Oh I can say so many things about Seithe, for I have known him now for what seems like a lifetime. Do you want a squishy girly man of this time, well you won't find him here. Seithe is all man, all the time. As bipolar as he sometimes seems, he is the real deal; light and dark, love and hate, joy and pain, all wrapped up with a pretty god bow!! If you want your average guy in an average book, please pass on this one.
Women of the time seem to handpick douchebags for their partners, this being the rule...Enters Jaime! She is small in stature and in the beginning, damaged. Given the opportunity, she takes a leap. What a lucky gal! Ends the part of the review for those that will just 'read' the book...
For those of you that will get what the author is trying to project, here's your part...
Start studying!!! Know yourselves and the information that is out there that will enlighten your very being. If you do not have love, for yourself, you will be that clanging brass. Find that light! There is more to the story. Find YOUR truth! I am not one to quote scripture but 1 Corinthians 13 makes sense, without all the 'God' stuff. Why do you think people recite this part of the bible in weddings? It is a blueprint for what love should be. In her book Poppet gives us an alternative to our inner darkness. She shows us that we all have a light inside. We are told at bible school as a kids, the song "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine". When did you lose that part of you? So for most this just book for their reading pleasure, but for the rest of us that cannot tune out the truth of things, it is so much more...
Lucem is also Seithe’s new tale, the one that comes after his death. He returns and is the teacher and Jamie is his human student. Poor Jamie, I identified with her so much, it was an eye-opener to read where she went wrong in her life. It is also about Jo, Seithe’s brother, and Ellindt, Seithe’s twin sister. Everything changes for this supernatural family and the dynamics will impact on the future of humankind.
I didn’t want Lucem to end! Now I can’t wait for the next book. HIGHLY recommended to the thinkers out there!
