It reminds me a bit of Octavia Butler in the set-up and reads like a movie. Actually, I hope this becomes a series. I have grown to like the character Lucifer so much that I'm saddened at the transformation that will come ... Now that is good storytelling!
I expected it to be moralizing and was hesitant to pick-up, complete and happy surprise that it was relatable and exciting. Look forward to more.
From the Author
This book grew out of an idea I had from Luke 10:18, where Jesus said He saw Satan fall as lightning from Heaven. That was also the original title of the book, "As Lightning." I wondered what that experience must have been like. The experience of being the first excommunicated, homeless creatures. And homeless only because of your own hubris. Being so deceived, and being so wrong, yet being locked on a course that you could not possibly win.
My experience writing it was extreme. I had to dig deep to imagine the many different locales featured in the book. The physics of the spiritual realm by definition have to be different than natural physics. And I wanted each character to have their own unique voice and perspective. So I used artistic license to fill in most of the gaps, and to attempt to tell a cohesive story.
This is only the first part of the story tho...there will be a sequel. Or two. These ideas aren't done speaking to me yet.
