Lucky Santangelo is ruthless, cunning, and attractive. She is the daughter of the gangster Gino Santangelo and she lets nothing stand in her way. She is a woman who is on top of things and never allows anyone to stand in her way. Lucky marries the father of her estranged high school girlfriend Olympia Stanislopolous. Olympia angered by the marriage and envied by her slim physique, vows to have nothing to do with her. Lenny Golden, the comic who married the Greek heiress, is in love with Lucky. And who can blame him? Then there are the other characters Santino Bonnatti, his wife and mistress (who is also Lenny's ex-girlfriend), Carrie Berkely and her son Steven (who is also the illegitimate son of Gino Santangelo), and others that the make the novel a great read. Jackie Collins knows what to write and how to write it.

Jackie Collins' Lucky, is a novel about power, love, lust, sex and crime. Daughter of a powerful man, Lucky Santangelo, an erotic and wild beauty, plans on continuing the family tradition with honor. Hungry for power, success and pleasure Lucky sets out seeking for her desires. Before she knows it, Lucky embarks herself on an adventure full of glory, passion, trouble, sex, vengeance and suspense. From Vegas to New York after her father's unexpected and undesirable wedding. Pregnant by the world's richest man, Dimitri Stanislopoulos, a passionate lover, Lucky lives her life between her East Hampton home in New York and her son's father's private Greek Islands. Off on business in Atlantic City, Lucky hits the road with power, money, glory and love. Her glory is cut short, when her dangerous past catches her back leading her to court.

This novel is extraordinary. This novel kept me reading, I couldn't take my eyes or mind off the book. Jackie Collins gets deep into descriptions making you feel the characters emotions and desires. As you read on and learn more about each one, you feel that you know these people. You can just imagine each scenario in your head, and feel that you are part of the scene but that no one can see you.

This is the first book, of the series, that I have read. You DO NOT need to read the first to understand the second. But, I can't wait to read the first, to know even more depth! The sex, drugs, and rock n roll apply to some characters, not all..(just as in real life). One character's strengths helps another's weaknesses. And they are forever crossing paths, (once again, just as it is in real life). There aren't too many books that can bring you through so many highs, in one read!. This is more than a great story, it is a saga! I'm sure that the mini-series doesn't do it justice. I have felt love, hate, passion, independence, fear and more. I had a 'birds eye view' of the gangster, the 'gypsy', the homosexuals', the 'starving' actor/actress, the heiress, the drug-addicted, the snobish, the mothers, the fathers, the prostitute, the lawyer, and more, WOW! There is suspense, there is death, there is love. The love itself, is a web! Some what slap-stick. Everyone loves someone else, and it takes years for them to find out, or to have the perfect opportunity to confront it. No matter, what kind of reader you are, I think you will enjoy this particular book very much!

This book was not up to my wife's high standards - Jean Auel, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Greg Iles, etc. It's hard to go backwards when you've reached the top of the mountain.

This story has multiple story lines that are attached to the different characters. Collins jumps from one to the other, and sometimes very quickly. It keeps you on your toes. This book follows Lucky as she moves from being a partner with her father to becoming an independent hotel builder/owner on her own. She breaks away from Gino when he marries a gold digger socialite and marries an older man. He's very rich - kind of a take on Onassis, and with his money she builds a hotel of her own. She also has a child and gets close with her father again after he realizes he married a frigid woman who was actually gay and he should have listened to his daughter. She also falls in love with a comedienne but abandons the affair because they are both married - although unhappily.

This series, this book, definitely has its ups and down. But more than anything, I adore Lucky!!! She is bad ass and considering these books take place a while ago...that's a hug accomplishment.

With all the different main characters and POV's there really is a lot going on but it is all pretty clear.

I sense future fire with Lennie and Lucky for sure!!!

Jackie Collins knows how to keep a reader reading. The plot was excellent and Lucky was the bomb. She either liked you or she didn't and she read people like an open book. She was determined to be the "Woman" in a so called man's world. She took care of her responsibilities like a true lady. Lucky and Lennie were made for each other, even though they had many obstacles in their way. The Bonnatti's have once again learned not to mess with the Santangelo's. Gino and Lucky are still on top and loving it. This book has everything, so if you're hesitant about buying it, don't be. Collins knows how to write about a true woman.
