D'Amato clan welcomed Simon with open arms. We get to see where Vic gets his looks as well as personality traits. And we also get a glimpse into Simon's relationship with his mother who would make Snow Queen look like Mary Poppins. There are moments full of holiday cheer and romance but never fear murder does not take vacation, and soon Simon and Vic are in the midst of very serious investigation involving dark magic, old legends and desperate people. Another lovely tidbit is that Vic's ex-partner shows up with such an extreme case of sour grapes! Made my day! Plus Simon's sight showed all was not so simple with Nate, and in the end he got his just deserts!
This was a wonderful novella full of magic, spirits, friends and Simon and Vic finally settling in and making a home together. Loved it! I hope there will be many more Vic and Simon adventures!!! Highly recommend!
When they return home Simon learns his town has been visited by the same ghost shredder. He and Vic soon discover the culprit. With several of Simon’s otherworldly friends, they set out to solve the problem.
This was a very enjoyable book. Not to heavy on the magical scale. It concentrated on their developing relationship, family, and friends. Another glimpse of Travis and Brent for the Witchbane books. I recommend reading Badlands first.
Ghosts of past arise via family connections and exes, present in the form of a murder investigation and future in the form of a vision and a woman in fear for her life. Krampus figures into the latter two.
We get more development of the relationship between Vic and Simon and we see the budding work partnership with Simon’s new role as a police consultant. Some secondary characters from previous books appear as well.
It was a fun read and nice to get the universe more established and more settling of Vic and Simon’s relationship.

Once again, there was a proper tale, with mystery and paranormal stuff, seamlessly done, with some hot stuff thrown in. Again, I liked that the sexy times between the guys didn't come at the expense of the tale or events, and that it was proper relationship stuff, not just quick down and dirty stuff.
I liked how the guys have progressed - Vic is now a believer, and ends up seeing more than he bargained for, which can be nothing but good. Simon is now a little more sure about his own abilities, especially as in the final battle scene he is able to protect those he cares about by looking into himself and finding his powers.
As the tale ended, I wanted more, but there's no info on the author's website, unfortunately. Let's hope there's more to come.
The audio narrative by Kale Williams is also well worth listening to. Becoming a must have to accompany the books.
