Lumberjanes #1 Comic

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 9 ratings

WHY WE LOVE Five best friends spending the summer at Lumberjane scout camp...defeating yetis, three-eyed wolves, and giant falcons...what’s not to love?!WHY YOU’LL LOVE It’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gravity Falls and features five butt-kicking, rad teenage girls wailing on monsters and solving a mystery with the whole world at stake. And with the talent of acclaimed cartoonist Noelle Stevenson, talented newcomer Grace Ellis writing, and Brooke Allen on art, this is going to be a spectacular series that you won’t want to miss. WHAT IT’S Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley are five best pals determined to have an awesome summer together...and they’re not gonna let any insane quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! Not only is it the second title launching in our new BOOM! Box imprint but LUMBERJANES is one of those punk rock, love-everything-about-it stories that appeals to fans of basically all excellent things.

Lumberjanes is pure perfection. And even though it's all "lady empowering", it's a great comic for all walks of life. Two of my guy friends even asked to borrow it after I wouldn't shut up over its awesomeness and they both loved it! The writers admit that the first issue is completely foreshadowing, so even though there's not that much story to it, the characters and art and dialogue leave you with this enraging curiosity to go and order every other comic (hi that's what I just did). It's also great if you're just starting a comic collection. Also, if you're worried about the price for some reason this issue is the most expensive everywhere, yet they gradually get cheaper as you continue the series. It's crazy weird, but I mean it's also more incentive to buy the rest!!

I'm so excited to read the rest of these!! They're a bit short considering the price but the characters are cool and the plot seems so interesting!

I LOVE Lumberjanes so, so, so, so so very much. It's adorable, the art is so cute and clean and unique, the story is fun, it's a FREAKING FEMINIST SUMMER CAMP. The comic itself is perfection...but the quality is horrible. The pages were folded and creased, there was some weird brown liquid smeared on the back: disguising! The envelope it was shipped in folded and crumpled the comic and the packaging was ripped. It had obviously been read, and not gently. I'm so mad that I paid this much for a horribly treated comic. I really love the Lumberjanes serious, and it is rather expensive, so the fact that it came in so awful quality is astounding and disgusting to me, although I adore Noelle Stevenson and her lovely creation.

I ordered this and issue #2 on a whim, forgot completely about it within a few minutes, then got SUPER EXCITED when my papa was handing me my package with them wrapped up so nicely inside a week later. SUCH A GREAT FUN COMIC. 100%, 5 STARS, 10/10. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I'm so happy I bought these. I will definitely continue reading this now that it's been bumped up to an ongoing series.

One of the best #1's in recent memory. Lumberjanes is quite entertaining while staying down to earth. The physical copy should only continue to rise in price.

The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. And I already know I'll like the rest of this. It's cute and fun. Forgive me for not having too much to say, but this is only like 25 pages...
