And the title? Yep, that’s working for me, too.
Let’s not forget THIS description of Court, the forest ranger who doubles as a GD panty-melter:
Spiffed up in his uniform, but with an edge from his hair being shaved on the sides, he looked like the forest ranger equivalent of a hot cop who was allowed to have tattoos and a creative haircut. Kind of a punk rock ranger.”
Hot cop, forest ranging, punk rocker? Um, I’ll take two, thanks.
Basically, it all came together in Lumbersexual to make one hell of good book. It was funny, and sexy, and interesting. It started kind of slowly for me, and I took some time to connect with Maggie, but once I did? I so did.
A novella, this book didn’t go on an epic, crazy, heart-breaking trip through all the feels and then some. No, instead it was a gentle and engaging ride; a story that made me think, made me—the world’s most indoorsy indoor person—yearn for nature, and made me swoon for a man named Courtney.
Seriously. Courtney. It’s not the sexiest of names, but on him? IT F____G WORKS. In fact, this whole book f____g works. From the cover, to the title, to Court and Maggie, and then, to the stunning and unique drawings that are scattered throughout the book, Lumbersexual just straight-up worked. ~ 4.5 stars
it was a no brainier, I stopped what I was doing and
read from prologue to the end in one sitting.
Leslie again has a way of just capturing life moments,
face your fears, open your heart, heal, trust, and enjoy
the beauty that literally surrounds your day to day
I loved this book, it was such an enjoyable read.
Maggie and Court were such awesome characters.
Maggie (Margaret loved her name) was quirky, funny
a natural beauty and just really wanted to be accepted
Court...OH MY, he is handsome,(gotta love a man
with a beard and flannel). Sexy, smart, and new
exactly who he was. He did not waiver in his convictions
and just set out to prove to Maggie what she could be
and to learn to trust.
I have never been to Yosemite Park, but the detail
that Leslie provided I felt like I was smelling the
flowers, looking up at the trees and climbing the
rocks and diving in the water.
Well done Leslie thank you for another sexy, funny,
life lesson and a day to escape with your words and
And wow I knew it was going to be good because I was at 31% for a while…. and the book was in my head, parts of it would pop in ever so often. But it was more than that, it was the feelings I felt. I guess because I could relate to Maggie with the fear of heights and feeling like you have to know what is happening now. Not knowing the path and how it would play out really got to her.
“Other people can check a single box. Not me. Guess I’m just trying to find my box.” - Maggie
Court really got her to think about what she wanted and even if she didn't realize it right away. He helped her become the true Maggie. I kind of loved that.
‘His compliments nudged open a small place in my heart, and I smiled at him, grateful.’ – Maggie’s thoughts
We need to seriously just take a minute and appreciate Court and all his physique… Sigh the way she describes him damn it’s such a clear picture in my mind. Is it wrong I want my hubby to grow a beard… Like RIGHT NOW.. giggles.. seriously…
This thought I kind of feel like could go both way he saw her, but she saw him too.
‘But he also opened me up and made me find myself. He saw me, he made me see myself.’ – Maggie’s thoughts
Leslie can also make you like the second hand characters just as much as the main ones. Ian and Matt are guys I would like to chill with. Ian is just the right amount of comic relief. And the girls are pretty awesome too; I sure as heck wouldn't want to leave with friends like them.
*All my Reviews are 100% honest and my own.*
I love the dynamics of every story and the faces she carves into my mind on every page!
As for this book, "Lumbersexual" I can honestly say my only complaint is length. Something this good should never end so soon! I don't get how she crammed such a FANTASTIC story into so few pages!
This book promises a change of scenery! Everything about this park is so well described I truly feel rejuvenated like I was up there hiking my way!!! Leslie engages the senses without boring the living day lights out of you!
This is the PERFECT summer read with an amazing couple to present it to you.
Court is magnificent manly greatness. I don't know how else to put it. He's a sexy bearded beast and I loved him from line one!
Maggie is a unique looking hotty that made me feel bonded to her immediately! With all the realistic thoughts and fears many of us have without being a whining mess! She was strong and the wisdom of the heart she learns on this journey will stay with me.
This is a five star novella with so much heart!!! And of course, Leslie McAdam sizzle and fire!
