I can not for the life of me understand why she would put up with abuse from these people. Why wouldn't she fight back? She says so many times that she is going to fight back, and literally right after she says that, she ends up with a fist in her face.
.....It also left me with a lot more questions than answers. For example, why the social worker didn't see what was going on (unless she must have been one of the demons) or ...and I know this question is going to be really stupid, but... how is she getting money to buy things when she doesn't have a after school job and the family hates her.
And then there is her power of throwing a guy off her to the point he flies through the air.... wheeeeeere did that come from? O.o
I wanted to enjoy the book so much, and it kept me sucked in where I didn't want to put it down, but for the sake of my health and not flying off the handle and breaking my kindle, I had to put it down quite a lot. And even when I finished it, i had to sleep a while before I could even put my thoughts together.......yet they are still scattered. lol
I like the MC, I do. I want to see her grow. I want to see her fight back. I want so much for her, I really really really hope she doesn't keep letting bad things happen to her, I hope she kicks her demon guy to the curb and drowns him in Holy Water.
I doubt that will happen though. Poor girl is on a one way trip to hell to satisfy a scummy demon. :(

The atmosphere of Luminosity is dark and otherworldly, frightening. It strongly reminds me of the old Celtic sagas where good and evil are battling to conquer the world of humans.
I loved reading the book. I find it different from many other stories of this genre and was pleasantly surprised. The concept of a dark world inhabited by demons and, at the same time, human emotions, longings and feelings, a struggle since the beginning of the worlds, is fascinating.
I am definitely going to read the prequel and recommend Stacy McWilliam's books to readers who are not afraid to delve into the dark worlds of our existence.
Jasmine endures constant rejection and violence from almost everyone she comes into contact with after she was forced to move in with the Stevensons. Even Nathan, who is supposed to protect her, and whose hot and cold attitude toward her, is in on these cruel and seemingly senseless attacks. She is baffled as to why they are treating her this way.
The story is horror in print!! The further into the book I got, the more shocking it was, but I was helpless to do anything but keep turning the pages.
“Oh my God, he actually hated me and here was me fantasising about him and wondering when I would see him again.”
As the story continues, the more is revealed about Nathan’s attraction and why he likes her one minute and cannot stand her the next. Also, Jasmine begins to together the pieces of the puzzle that is the Stevensons. All is not as it seems to her, and she is determined to find out what they are hiding.
“Do you know,” he growled in a low voice in my ear, “ how much I’ve wanted to do this Jasmine.”
An emotionally agonising read that was impossible to set down. The highs and lows were plentiful, the suspense just kept building to an immense peak, only to come crashing down, becoming more and more intriguing. My level of frustration was at the ultimate level, and at times I just wanted to say, WHY???
I did not realise when I began this book, how much and how quickly I would come to love it. I was totally enamoured by Nathan and Jasmine. A doggedly suspenseful read that I just inhaled with total abandon. I cannot wait to begin Ignition, Part 2 of the Escaping Demons Saga.
