As a supplier of military watches for the u.s. Navy seals and u.s. Air force, luminox watches are designed to handle any sort of environment at any given moment. Luminox expanded the collection to include an entire line of watches of many types and styles created for the active consumer, the sportsman, law enforcement and military groups. The advantage of a luminox in comparison to other watches is its glow-in-the-dark capability. Every luminox watch uses a self-powered system of illumination powered by very small gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules). These allow the watch to glow continuously for 25 years while having a much brighter illumination system. Luminox watches need no external light source to "charge" the point on the dial or hands in order to glow as do conventional luminous watches. Nor do they require the push of a button to light the dial as do watches with electroluminescence. Being able to read the watches in any conditions, even in total darkness, is an important requirement of many military and law enforcement agencies.

One guy said he was in the construction business and complained about how easily the watch was scratched and so
on...really? Why would you buy a DIVERS WATCH then? Yes, because it only comes with Mineral Crystal face instead
of the Sapphire crystal the watch face will be more prone to scratches, BUT, did you not read that BEFORE your purchase?
Luminox does have a complete line of Sapphire crystal watches, but you are going to pay more because the material is simply
more expensive. So, if you are not going to pony up the extra coin for a higher line with the Sapphire crystal face while you are
wanting to use this watch in a field that is most likely going to scratch your watch to hell, then you may want to consider something else. I am willing to bet that the most important feature of the watch was still okay, IT WORKED. Another guy complained about the illumination on the watch, and another guy complained about how hard it is to read the numbers on the watch...I can't help but shake my head... The illumination on this watch does just what it was designed to do, and that is illuminate just enough for the "operator" to see the time in a all dark environment. If it is any brighter you would be giving up your location in the field, that simple. You have to remember the designers original intent with the watch. This is for SEAL teams, who rely on stealth. The watch illuminates plenty enough to see for the person wearing the watch to be able to make out what you bought it for in the first place, the TIME. Next was the guy who said the numbers were a bit tough to see...Read more ›
I took several things into consideration when purchasing the watch. Most importantly-Amazon is not an authorized Luminox dealer (which is the case for many watches on Amazon). Therefore, the manufacturers warranty is void when purchasing through Amazon. This also made me a little skeptical of the potential for receiving a counterfeit product.
From a pricing perspective Amazon cannot be beat. Amazon's price is $105 lower when compared to the lowest authorized re-seller's price.
Upon receiving the watch there is no doubt in my mind that it is 100% authentic. See my customer photo for authentic box and packaging. Watch is as advertised.
Hopefully I'll never have the need to test the Amazon watch warranty, but there is one provided to replace the void Luminox manufacturers warranty.
The visual is awesome and the luminescence is beyond good. It can light up a small city on the darkest of evenings. Priced right and delivered WITH the original warranty this is the way to purchase a Luminox watch. One caveat however, please be very careful to read the sold by and shipped by section of the add describing the item for sale as that can make the difference between a dream purchase and a nightmare experience. I should know as it happened to me. Simply put AMAZON GOOD, WATCHSAVINGS BAD,JOMAR SALES BAD and any one of their myriad of other dba names. Sorry folks but this is still a CAVEAT EMPTOR WORLD so do your Due Dilegence before making the purchase decision. But I highly recommend the product and Amazon as the SOLE SOURCE seller/shipper.
So I bought black model. Part of the new non flashy me. Love it. Same quality, unique to all those tossers that want to show off their bling and very clear to see in light or dark. I look forward to the next ten years with this watch keeping time.
The matte black color makes the watch look a bit smaller than it is, and it also makes the bezel a lot more subtle than those on other diver's watches. It feels solid and well-made. The bracelet has a sturdy feel, and the snap is positive. The bezel only turns one way, as it should, and holds its position well. I was a bit worried that the lamps would be hard to read in dim light, but I have found them to be quite visible in everything from bright sunlight to total darkness.
UPDATE: After about a year and a half, I was disappointed to find a scratch on my crystal. The page here on Amazon clearly states even now that it has a sapphire crystal, after all, and those are pretty tough to scratch. When I decided to see whether I could get the crystal replaced under the Luminox warranty, I received a double-shock: the crystal is NOT sapphire, and Luminox does not honor the warranty on the watch, anyway. Had I known, I would not have bought this watch from Amazon, and I would not recommend that others do, either. On the plus side, the gas tubes are still going strong, and so the watch is easily readable in the dark.
