Top customer reviews
It's my fault for not researching this before buying it. Normally I don't have a problem buying a cheaper knock off of an expensive brand, but my god, the musky moldy smell of this watch band is enough to make me angry that I foolishly bought it.
Please note, I understand that not every band will smell this badly. According to sources online, these knock offs are really hit or miss in terms of quality. I guess mine was made with a really bad batch of rubber.
I purchased the real thing from Lunatik, only paid $10-15 more and it made a world of difference. It's a very sleek and sturdy case. It disassembles very easily but holds the ipod securely, and is a great way to turn your ipod into a highly functional geek chic watch.
When I opened to see the LunaTik, I was pretty pleased. Except for this white rusty stuff on the outside of the metal face plates, I thought, "No problem, I'll just wipe it off" but it was pretty stuck on to the surface of the silver metal. I don't really notice it anymore, so it is fine.
I don't mind any of these things, I really like what I got and I'm excited about using it all the time because it's my ipod as a watch.
I'm a girl so my wrist is pretty small. My wrist is a little less then 6 inches in circumference and if you have a small wrist you might find this particular model to be bulky. I use mine everyday for excersizing and I like it a lot so I don't mind the size. It's nice because when I run or ride my bike I don't have to worry about my ipod flinging off of my clothes or flying out of my pockets unexpectedly when I'm in motion. Although it's not the most fashionable thing to wear with all ensembles, I keep my ipod in the lunatik and just wear it if I want.
Despite the rusty white stuff, I give it 4/5 stars.
And on to the downsides. It does get scratched. I bought the blacked out version. I thought with it being anodized aluminium the finish would be pretty permanent. That is not necessarily the case. Mine already shows signs of use (light scratches on the corners and edges exposing the shiny aluminum underneath) after being worn about a months worth of days. Additionally I have a slight issue with the band. The ingeniously designed plug that acts as a band stay has the limitation that it can only go in the last hole, on both ends of the band. So what this means is that while the band is very long and easly fits my wrist in order to use the stay I have to tighten it a little uncomfortably tight. Now I'm a big guy and have big wrists. They are 21cm or 8 1/4 inches in diameter and I would say that if yours are any larger you will not be able to use the stay. This is the information that I wish I could have found in the other reviews before I bought.
So In spite of minor flaws I still believe that this is the best ipod watch band available at a reasonable price, and I would buy it again.
